THE MOTHER OF GOD 

Hers was the great act of charity. She gave the world Vivekananda when widowed she struggled with her children for bare subsistence. Driven out of her late husband's house by inimical relatives, starving, semi-starving but with head held high, she brought up yet her youngest son, revolutionary Bhupendranath Datta to eminence amidst grinding poverty to set the seal on her own unconscious greatness  to be deemed the worthy mother of three jewel sons, Narendranath, Mohendranath and Bhupendranath. Bhuvaneshwari Devi lives on luminous in the memory of the many as the exemplar of what true wifehood, motherhood and womanhood are. She is a model for Indian womanhood. Golden-wombed, she held God for over nine months within her before letting Him soar to the highest heavens whence He had descended into mortal coil.
