AS BRUTALITY REIGNS ... 3

AS BRUTALITY REIGNS ... 3

Man continues to fight man as if humanity is divided into different species. The sense of separateness seems deep-rooted as the people of a common human inheritance divide themselves into artificial, superficial, separate units, calling them nations which then pursue individual conflicting dreams in a world of terrible contradictions stemming from what is termed 'limited means and unlimited ends'. Dreams are sky-high, desires endless, but the means of organic satisfaction constricted in inverse proportion. Hence, gratification at the physical level invariably leads to conflict of oneself with others, of one group with another, of one nation with another. At the animal level this contradiction is rudely sorted out by evolutionary principles, the struggle for survival, natural selection and the survival of the fittest. But at the human level this leads to wanton destruction of life and property, desecration of culture and civilisation, and immeasurable suffering entailed on humankind. Such has been human history thus far and such is its inertial continuance even unto this day when we witness the Russian bully pounding innocent Ukrainians in its bid to impose its territorial hegemony.
