SPIRITUAL IDEAS ... 6

1. A gush of blissfulness
    Filled the air
    Ere it was morn,
    And I caught the breath
    Why they say
    Sattva flows at dawn.

2. Jini ahongshunya tini e sannyasi, aar keu non.

3. Ramakrishna Math o Ramakrishna Mission Thakurer sanghashoreer, sanghaatma noy. Sanghaatma swayang Sri Sri Thakur.

4. Garb is garbage.

5. There is no point pretending to be pure. Purity shines like the midday sun penetrating the veils of the covering clouds.

6. How can you call yourselves devotees of Thakur-Ma-Swamiji when you cannot even combine to spread their message far and wide?

7. Half-hearted hypocrisy may suit the partial seeker who is no seeker at all, but not the one who lives and dies for the sake of Truth.

8. Must we thus reject Swamiji by giving in to the vain pleasures of our debilitated terrestrial self or will we yet arise to conquer?

9. Spirituality is a far cry for the one who has not yet had a taste of the ephemeral pleasures of life and ever hankers for it.

10. How difficult it is to find the one who will live the life and carry the message forward for the wider benefit of the world!

11. Sycophancy arises from self-debasement and must be eschewed from the personality if one is to adequately serve the nation.

12. There is a lot at stake. Our country has a billion who need to be lifted to levels of human living, not of brutes that merely survive.

13. Nongorey srimkhalita nouko, dnaar tene ki hobe?

14. Rear your children like lions among men, not effeminate souls with not a tinge of manliness in them.

15. It is regrettable to see the youth barely cutting their teeth in the intellectual realm hazard irresponsible remarks on Swamiji.

16. The youth must practice brahmacharya in their bid to comprehend the subtle truths of our scriptures before hazarding foul remarks.

17. Swamiji cannot be comprehended without the cultivation of what he often stressed on, 'shraddha'.

18. Men are so busy with their minuscule work that they cannot attend on God. But God who is ever so busy finds time for the devotee.

19. Neither go up nor down but strike the golden mean between. Thus shall you elude the clutches of Maya and remain at one with the Self.

20. It is like seeing things from a distance, the seer witnessing the panoramic spectacle of life. Time freezes as consciousness soars.

21. When the cows go home and the flautist floats his tune, my soul soars to bliss and rushes unto freedom.

22. Ah, what a thrill is in the name 'Ramakrishna', what bliss!

23. Spirituality is the getting better of time. So, beat time from this moment if you wish to conquer death.

24. This world is a delusive experience of the senses which are derivatives of the delusional mind which is delusion itself.

25. God must be realised in this very life and time is flying. Read 'The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna' to rapidly advance towards the goal.

26. The bliss of the heavens lies within when heaven itself is the Self of man. Seek within for all that you pursue without.

27. Work, but do it in a spirit of service. Else, that very work will be the cause of distress and misery. Be free of all hankering.

28. Spirituality cannot admit exploitation of the masses by the rich but must speak out in a bold voice condemning such corruption.

29. Our sympathies must extend to our associates at least and make us serve them in an abundant measure. Else, what is humanity after all?

30. It is a terrible world full of the pitfalls of desire. But with indomitable courage you must fight on and advance towards the goal that lies in the conquest of all that is selfish, all that is vain and all that sinks the soul in this base material mire. There is a work at hand, this conquest of carnal appetites, this suppression of sensory superficiality, this subservience of the spirit to matter. And in this labour of love lies the emancipation of the human soul

31. Dawn it is and 'tis time to chant the Ishtamantra and meditate. What a bliss it is, what blossoming!

32. We make pilgrimages to so many holy sites. Oh, when shall we visit the holiest of them all in the sanctum of the human heart?

33. Spirituality is the transcendence of body-consciousness and residence in the realm of the Spirit.

34. Chanting the Holy Name purifies the system and makes it fit to be the recipient of divine realisation. Thus, chanting is a spiritual imperative. The Ishta Mantra is surcharged with divine vibrations in seed form, that is, in the potential state. It has to be activated by repetition

35. The genesis of Vivekananda's genius lay in his absolute mastery of the senses even from birth. The rest was his Master's grace.

36. The karma yogi is calm and unruffled even in the midst of life's severest trials. Such a one was Swami Gahanananda.
