COMMENT THREAD OF 'THE SELFISH EXODUS OF THE BRIGHTEST'

Sugata Bose : Imagine Kshudiram Bose, born in India, goes to study abroad, takes a job there and forgets the motherland. How nice would that be? (This was the original post to which the comments followed)
Sandipan Guha : With time priorities change..so changes our traits and character..emotionally unacceptable but very very much feasible..
Nilanjana Chakraborty : Potential mother blessed with so many brave children...let us not undermine our glorious past, we aren't dead!
Biswanath Roy : A large number of people do not know the name of Kshudiram Bose now a days. How we expect they have got soft corner for motherland .
Sumit Chandra : Grandson of one of India's greatest revolutionaries Jatindranath Mukherjee or Bagha Jatin is settled abroad. Before the final battle Bagha Jatin gave the custody of his wife and his little child to his sister. He had proclaimed "amra morbo jaat jagbe" - we will die so that the nation awakens. I know we care about Nehru's great grand children, but do the people even know the name of Bagha Jatin's grandson? What has the people of India given to the families who went to gallows or were incarcerated in Andamans or Rangoon for the cause of India' freedom and driving out British. Why should they remain in India?
Sugata Bose : Sumit Chandra, one's remaining in the country is not a matter of barter but a matter of principle and feeling for the nation. Bagha Jatin fought for the nation, so did countless other revolutionaries to free and build India, not for future citizens to expect rewards in return for staying in the motherland and serving her. It is a matter of feeling for one's own mother and not in any manner a business deal. Love must be selfless or not at all. Those that leave the nation to have a better life economically or otherwise are welcome but we prefer to stay here in our punyabhumi Bharatvarsha to serve her, raise her and die for her, then to be reborn to do the same again till she stands resplendent in her glory like never before. Then shall we take our liberation for good from the shackles of this terrestrial self and from the tentacles of Maya. However, I do feel very sad and angered at the treatment the revolutionaries and their families have received at the hands of the 'non-violent' Congress Governments at the Centre and their counterparts in the States but that is no reason why there should be a mass exodus of our brightest students merely to seek a selfish 'better life'.Adreeja Basu : Reservation system prevents many meritorious general caste students/ researchers/ academicians who wants to stay in his/her motherland to fulfill their dream of serving the nation ......Sugata Bose : Adreeja Basu, I am also against rampant reservation for an indefinite period of time but I still aver that the antidote to it all is staying here and fighting it out to create a better social order where all get a fair deal and our country prospers in the right direction as her seers and sages have envisaged from time immemorial.Sumit Chandra : Sugata Bose please remember Subhas Bose and Rashbehari Bose could fruitfully work for India's freedom only when they were outside India. Subhas Bose could organise his army with help of NRI manpower and finances. In fact the people of India ditched him when he needed them the most. The people of India didnt rise in one voice against the imperialists when he entered India in 1945 with Japanese help.Instead people like Nehru Gandhi and Commies sitting in India vehemently opposed him and bad mouthed him.So you can guess the contribution of people sitting in India. On the other hand people in East Asia gave their all on his call. Even Swamiji got recognition amongst Indian masses only after his American sojourn. The funding for buying land at Belur came from an American. When imperialist tried to ban RKM it was the white American who threatened the Governor of India and revoked the ban. Even today many people living abroad contribute in their own say towards betterment of India which probably they couldnt staying in India as they would have to spend their entire life thinking how to meet their basic needs after 70 years of British leaving India!!!!!Sugata Bose : Sumit Chandra, absolutely so, but the motive for this mass exodus that takes place is not patriotic but merely for fulfilling selfish personal interest while the vast mass of humanity who paid for their basic education in India remains hopelessly without the means of basic dignified living. These expatriates can in no way be compared to the glorious ones abroad who fought to liberate India. These are selfish people who conveniently forget the motherland despite having received from birth everything at her expense.
Sumit Chandra : So if in 70 years the Govt cant fend for basic needs of its citizens and doesn't care for their well being the people will have to fend for themselves. In most places in India 24 hours electricity and water is still a luxury. Even a desert country in Gulf can provide these basic amenities. The Govt is more than happy to see of its people and get "remittances ".Sugata Bose : Sumit Chandra, it is a very weak idea to begin with that you need the government to fend for you and to fend for yourself when it does not comply to your requirement you conveniently leave everyone else in the country to seek your own security. What about the reverse idea, the valorous one of staying behind and fending for yourself and for your hapless sisters and brothers so that the future of the nation is brighter than what it is? What about us who are exactly doing that, toiling away to fulfil the very dreams of the revolutionaries, the martyrs and the sages like Swamiji who you quote but do not quite follow their message. India does not require the dole from your foreign charity when she has valorous sons and daughters galore yet who have not forsaken her for petty self-survival quite removed from all principles of nation-building.Sumit Chandra : I am sure you have organised a group by now doing door to door selfless service in India.Well done mate. Thanks to you.Sugata Bose : Sumit Chandra, thanks for recognising the good work we do here and expecting you to do the same, too, in any capacity that you can, for it is our common mother who we serve.Sumit Chandra : Btw Sugata Bose just out of interest what does your organization do and what is it's name? Please share.Sugata Bose : Sumit Chandra, it is called RAMAKRISHNA MATH AND RAMAKRISHNA MISSION. Need I give you the details of what it does? Just look up the website for a cursory view of it and I hope you will be able to gauge somewhat what it does.Sumit Chandra : Are you a monk out there? Good then.Sugata Bose : Sumit Chandra, no, not a monk but a lay devotee.Sumit Chandra : Ok.Good enough as long as we can contribute in whatever way we can to the Holy land.
