DEMOCRACY, DICTATORSHIP AND THE INDIVIDUAL ... 1

Centralisation of authority inevitably sets in decay. Democratic decentralisation is central to the flourishing of the societal system. That is why sentient beings have separate nervous systems that enable them to act on and react to the environment. If all the nervous systems were centralised in a single mega system, then individual response to stimuli would not have been possible and all that would have resulted would be a collective mess. Individual survival and individual growth have been the theme of the evolution of life and this natural system may be tampered with by men only at their peril for it will lead to collective disaster. The history of monarchy and dictatorship down the ages has borne ample testimony to this fact and the lessons learnt thereof have inspired men to attempt a better social order through the democratic mode.
