DECLINING CULTURE AND ITS ANTIDOTE ... 1

We, as a nation, must develop a sense of history which is sadly missing in us. The school curricula must so be framed as to inculcate it in children. The awareness of facts, the critical faculty to discern the truth and discriminate between fact and fiction as also the capacity to creatively analyse data for furtherance of knowledge must be the thrust of education and not mere rote-learning. Intellectual culture is sadly but inevitably on the decline and the downward gradient is ever on the increase with every passing year. This is a terrible trend for a nation that is aspiring to be a world power in terms of economic and cultural value. It is fruitless to harp on the ancient glory that our civilisation had attained and we must remain realistic about our present increasing degradation in the polity almost in every phase of it even though we must remain rooted to our hoary heritage despite it all.
