The test of cricket is Test Cricket. It must be preserved, nurtured and its long history studied and passed on to succeeding generations of cricketers. This academic aspect to it all is as much important as the theory and the practice of cricket on the playing field. A sense of history must be inculcated in the players from boyhood and they must grow up to become national and international cricketers imbued with this sense of history which will give them a real sense of belonging to the long tradition of this beautiful game.
