THE NATIONAL NEED ... 8

THE NATIONAL NEED ... 8

Politicians in a democracy must be discouraged from building up their personality cult. Here the people must play their part and concentrate on evaluating the worth of policies made and the extent of promises delivered by the party in power rather than on inconsequential issues unrelated to the general good of the nation. Whipping up communal passions is bad and so is pandering to the vanities of the dominant minority community by way of ensuring a fair share of their votes. Economics ought to be the guiding principle of governance for it is the bread that the empty belly calls out for as its immediate God, and in this the poor and the middle classes of all communities have a common claim.
