OURS BUT TO DO AND DIE

OURS BUT TO DO AND DIE

Powerless against the opposing forces pitted against one, one either fights on or resigns to one's fate and, so, either emerges victorious or valorous, if even in defeat, or succumbs to fate without further struggle. I, for one, choose to fight on till this body falls. That is the way of heroism and that is how we should conduct ourselves when faced with terrible adversity. But the elements conspire so that the very resistance offered each time weakens further resistance as the body, debilitated by torment of assault each time, wears off towards its eventual fall. But the mind remains, even if weary at times, invigorated by the ideal of the resistance pregnant in the Lord's words in the Geeta and fights on till the body finally drops like a leaf from a branch of the imperishable tree, the Brahmavriksha.
