UNTO THOSE THAT DIED THAT WE MAY LIVE

UNTO THOSE THAT DIED THAT WE MAY LIVE

The mind settles in peace when it is ready to sacrifice itself for the common weal. This must have been the state of mind of the martyrs to freedom.

A literal shame that there are some modern Indians who in the name of non-violence and assumed spirituality criticise unduly these valiant sacrificial souls as misguided terrorists. Would these critics to the core, the so-called brave votaries of non-violence and spirituality dare the scaffold for the motherland's freedom the way these fairest flowers of humanity did in the very sunshine of their lives? This is a soul-searching question that ought to consume the attention of these betrayers to the nation's cause better than to engage in the exercise of attempted tarnishing of the image of these purest offerings to the cause of the motherland's freedom.

Standing clear of the movement for freedom when it mattered most and then branding its most virile element as political adventurism suits only the modern coward who masquerades as the spiritual thinker, the liberal democrat and the social opportunist. That Mother India did give birth to some valiant souls as well who were otherwise endowed in their sacrificial fibre than these insufferable fools has led to her liberation from colonial control. Else, these loyal subjects of the British would have perpetuated the Crown's hold over her and kept her in perennial bondage.

A last word and it is this. Only the brave can appreciate valour and never the casual bystander to a freedom movement who later picks his hour to pass caustic comments about its most glorious phase in the most inglorious manner. Vande Mataram ! Jai Hind !
