THE TASK AT HAND ... 2

There is a universe of work awaiting the sincere devotee, not the one who merely revels in calling himself so, that of the spiritual regeneration of the world. It is a tall order and seemingly impossible of achievement for the ordinary soul. But then, the devotee is not so ordinary as is commonly understood. His is a granite will than can grind down obstacles withe the sheer intensity of his devotion and the persistence of his effort. When the work is disinterested, great is the energy released and despite the odds that threaten, eventual success is at hand. Such a daunting task must be accomplished if the world of man is to see the light of day tomorrow. The current complexities that threaten the very existence of human civilisation will have to be resolved in the light of a higher understanding and then the programmes implemented which will activate these principles in the real world of everyday mundane reality. Vivekananda had been faced with this perplexing proposition and had worked out a solution to it which is lying in wait still for its proper application, for the politics of the day is such that it will require another Vivekananda to override earthly considerations to save this earth from annihilation. No wonder he had said a few hours before his death on that fateful morn of the fourth of July, ''What this Vivekananda has done, it will take another Vivekananda to comprehend it.''

Swami Vivekananda was a visionary and he had seen in his mind's eye what tumults lay ahead before man as he wended his way through the turbulence of the times to eventual peace.
