INTERPRETING SWAMIJI ... 1

INTERPRETING SWAMIJI ... 1

Let not weakness put up the pretence of the sāttvik mode. That is not sattva but tamas. What is needed, though, is resistive rajas. Then alone survival is ensured. Singing and dancing in devotion will be of no avail in times of terrible attack on us by our civilisational enemies. The martial spirit is necessary, that which Guru Gobind Singhji cultivated in the Khālsā. Swamiji also wanted it but was never supported by any in his mission, being terribly handicapped himself by its universal dimension which did not allow him the freedom to work purely for the defence of the Hindus. Swamiji's world mission stood in the way of a focussed kshātradharma mission. Nor was he a military man suited to the purpose. His mind was too vast, too lofty to be brought down for long to cater to mundane matters and he could only leave for us priceless pieces of advice which if we follow, like Eknath Ranade did, we can produce those lesser stalwarts who can deliver the due deed in defence of the Dharma.
