VIVEKANANDA, TESLA AND EINSTEIN

VIVEKANANDA, TESLA AND EINSTEIN

In reality, though, mass increases with increase in velocity which is why the limiting velocity of light [3×10⁸ m/s] cannot be exceeded by any material particle or body. It is not that the mass of a body is converted to its kinetic energy to maintain the Law of Conservation of Energy in a self-contained internal way but rather energy is conserved between two interacting bodies/systems overall in an external flow by the impression of force. As the applied force accelerates a body, its velocity and kinetic energy keep increasing and so does its mass progressively till, at close to the limiting velocity of light in empty space, the mass approaches an infinite value which makes further acceleration impossible.

If Swamiji had lived on beyond 1905 to behold Einstein's discovery of E=mc², he would have had to rewrite his books on this newfound basis and revisit the West for a fresh series of Vedantic lectures based on Relativity. As it stands, this work remains yet to be done -- the upgradation and standardisation of Swamiji's Works to bring it in alignment with modern science, that is, the discoveries post-Swamiji, by appending throughout his Complete Works adequate scientific footnotes --, a mammoth task perhaps awaiting another Swamiji to do it.

If Swamiji himself had lived on beyond 1905, the year of Einstein's publication of his Special Theory of Relativity in the scientific journal 'Annalen der Physik' and beyond 1916 when the General Theory of Relativity was published, he would have been hard pressed to revise his own published works and bring them up to date. As of now, Swamiji's scientific assertions have become dated since 1905 and need updating, a fact that he must have sensed when he requested Nikola Tesla to provide for him mathematical proof for his [Swamiji's] intuitively apprehended idea of mass-energy equivalence.
