HOW FAR HUMAN ARE WE?

We are not much removed from the animals. Just a bit of thinking power we exhibit. That's all there is to the bulk of humanity. There are advanced souls, though, who have attained Self-realization and there are such souls even now who delve deep within the recesses of the soul, the interior of their consciousness where they behold their transcendent Self, the imperishable Atman. But the rest of humanity carry on with their humdrum material existence, sensory life full of desires whose gratification they ceaselessly pursue. In so doing conflicts arise. Politics is born of it and with it are born all the vices that beset humankind. This kinship with the primates whence we homosapiens have sprung continues even to this day, not merely in physiological evolutionary form but in behavioural attributes as well.
