SARFAROSHI KI TAMANNA

SARFAROSHI KI TAMANNA

The four valorous ones, Rajendranath Lahiri, Ramprasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan and Thakur Roshan Singh who were hanged by the British for the Kakori Train Robbery in 1927. The robbery had been planned to supplement funds for the revolutionary cause of India's freedom. However, an accidental shot fired by Manmathnath Gupta took the life of an innocent passenger by the name Ahmed Ali. This unwitting murder in the eyes of the law probably cost all four revolutionaries their life. Otherwise, perhaps, they would have been deported to the Andamans and made to serve their terms in the Cellular Jail. But that was not to be. The British authority was always quick to snuff out the lives of the most dreaded revolutionaries who they termed terrorists.

It is a tribute to our self-indulgence and self-oblivion that we should fail to remember these heroes more than we do. Till we do so we will never rise as a nation with unbounded self-respect and self-pride. Passive patriotism and sensuality has consumed the race. Glory unto the bravehearts who sacrificed their all for us, ungrateful and unworthy descendants! Worst of all is that despite their sacrifices the motherland was partitioned by traitors like Jinnah, Suhrawardy, Mujibur Rahman and the like in collusion with the British.
