'THE GOSPEL OF SRI RAMAKRISHNA' - THOUGHTS ON IT ... 1

'THE GOSPEL OF SRI RAMAKRISHNA' - THOUGHTS ON IT ... 1

'The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna' is self-explanatory and needs no other scriptural text for elucidation of its teachings, being itself the repository of the vast body of spiritual principles flowing from the mind of the Lord Himself in a plethora of utterances, spontaneous and divine, and duly chronicled then by His Boswell of the times in Mahendranath Gupta, alias M. The Gospel is the Veda of this age and will continue to be so for the next millenium or so before fresher utterances in future divine descents render it a reference text from a bygone era. It contains the gist of all the scriptures and more besides. Sri Ramakrishna has repeatedly said that for sense-clinging householders due devotion to the Lord is more suited for attainment of spiritual goals and undue emphasis on the Vedanta scriptures with a poor understanding of such is productive of self-delusion and world-deception. Hence, to posit that the Vedantic scriptures are incumbent upon the ordinary householder student of the Gospel is going against the very grain of the Master's words.
