TALKING POINT

TALKING POINT

We must learn to speak clearly, concisely and to the point when we are addressing questions related to the Netaji-mystery. Unnecessary digression, elaboration, emotional effusion and personalisation are counterproductive in mass communication. One may have vast knowledge on the subject but must know how to avoid dilution of focus by presenting only the facts pertinent to a query. The public get confused by a deluge of information all at once. Hence, data delivered to clarify conception must be streamlined.

Optimisation of input maximises public awareness. This should be borne in mind. Undue display of emotion, overuse of adjectives and self-reference to a fault hide the real issue and cover it with extraneous information that is unwarranted. Remember, economy is the key to the whole question. A scientific approach is necessary, dispassionate delivery of data along purely rational channels with incontrovertible arguments and rigorous logic. Unfortunately, good speakers are prone to verbal excesses and undo the job unwittingly perhaps. Greater circumspection and verbal restraint are necessary if the message attempted to be delivered is to duly reach its desired destination.

One hopes that this plea carries itself to the pertinent persons who are doing research on Netaji and are frequently in the public domain delivering their addresses but often along the aforesaid flawed lines that fail them inevitably. This is avoidable and must be avoided.
