Character bores its way through the psychology of the masses and lends essential guidance to them to follow their svadharma (ethical duties in life en route to Self-realisation). Hence, Swamiji's prescription of the acquisition of the triple attribute of purity, patience and perseverance as the sine qua non for genuine spiritual progress.
