ARE SOME BRITISH STRINGS ATTACHED TO OUR INDEPENDENCE?

ARE SOME BRITISH STRINGS ATTACHED TO OUR INDEPENDENCE?

Independence Day greetings to all ! But this day in 1947 we were declared a Dominion of the British Empire in truth.

Why is India still a Member of the British Commonwealth of Nations? The 'Transfer of Power Treaty' recognises India as a Dominion as on 15 August, 1947, and thereafter as a sovereign nation with special status of being a Republic while remaining within the British Commonwealth of Nations. What exactly are the clauses of the 'Transfer of Power Treaty'? If indeed we are a sovereign nation, what compels us to remain within the confines of the British Commonwealth?

All these are perplexing questions and need clarification from the Government of India. The people of India need to know if they really are completely independent of British bonds and bondage thereof, or if their independence is not quite complete but has some adverse alien attachments which make a mockery of their revolutionary struggle for complete freedom.
