THE INVERSE SQUARE LAW OF SOCIAL EVOLUTION 

Sensationalism has become endemic in the polity. Surface-reading, frivolity and the feasting of the eye to the exclusion of deep thinking is the common course. And this is the sure sign of cultural degeneration, although it indicates the coming of age of the proletariat. Exploitation abounds nonetheless with the capitalist playing the feudal part, and the masses continue to groan under the weight of capital.

But the masses are on the rise everywhere and their day is come for they will force changes to their lot by their sheer strength of numbers. From now on it will be the exchange of culture for the coarser pleasures of life, grain and gold for art and architecture, poetry and music of a heavenly order.

Alas, the golden days of creativity are gone for good! But the people who were the architects of such civilisation suffered in the process and the reverse trend is on now. The masses are coming good as high civilisation is being bid goodbye.
