MESSAGES GALORE ... 37

MESSAGES GALORE ... 37

1. The middle classes are struggling today, sandwiched between ends. Capitalism is on the rise in all its exploitative strength. The class conflict is sharpening with added dimensions of the day.

2. Sri Ramakrishna remains the one hope of survival of a humanity seemingly doomed otherwise.

3.

The Ramakrishna Mission despite its apolitical status must play a seminal role in bringing about peace and amity in a structurally fractured world. Global prospects today are ominous. If the Mission fails to propagate boldly its harmonic ideals in the world without compromise, dilution of standards and deflection from original intent, purpose and principles, we are in for dangerous times ahead. All strength to the Mission's idealism and practical progress in a world that is intent on committing harakiri.

4. The world is in flames. It is for us to douse the fire by spraying the water of love.

5. Harbour love for all within but maintain distinctive discretion without.

6. As culture plummets, understanding worsens.

7. Geniuses are often uncertain about their abilities which they so possess in stupendous amount. Their unsureness stems from their other-worldliness in a world of mediocre men with attributes contrasting theirs, and their own lofty standards which they in their own estimation believe they are failing to reach. Their extreme sense of perfection plays havoc with their infrequent human failings in regard to their craft even as they churn out masterpiece after masterpiece for posterity to cherish forever.

9. If life is love ❤️ and love ❤️ is life, why hate?

10. If life is love ❤️ and love ❤️ is life, why hate? No, there is more to life that sustains hate. There is this sense of separateness -- this clan sense, cult sense, tribe sense, race sense, class sense, caste sense, me-sense and you-sense -- which engenders hate. Let us sweep away all such separateness in an integral understanding of Truth and live in love, live in peace. 🕉

11. Balance your active life with your contemplative life. Otherwise, your work itself will wear you down and render you sterile in the long run.

12.

We are eating out of our vital self. Let us minimise this self-consumption and draw energy from our spiritual self. Self-cannibalism hardly befits evolving humanity, although it is the evolutionary imperative for most. And then comes the predatory instinct which is its natural corollary, an attribute that has kept history alive amidst masses of the dead in the din of perpetual war.
Self-consumption seems to be the way of man before Self-realisation in renunciation takes over. Man uses himself for fuel to light his way through the dense dark night of his earthly evolution.

13. God is never One. He/She/It is either the Manifested Many or the Unmanifest Not-Many which, though, is not One. The Unmanifest is never One but transcends all such enumeration.

14. No God controls you. Your own actions do.

15. This personality is shifting, simmering. Catch the real one. Can you?

16. The television advertisements we see make us seem like a nation of jokers, that too of a crass, lowly kind.

17. Let the senses sleep if you will wake up to God.

18. Your mind stretches from alpha to omega spanning the depths of time. You are witness to all your actions, none else.

19. The mind of man is a vast kaleidoscope.

20. We fail to project Tenzing Norgay in any way near the way the West projects Sir Edmund Hillary.

22. What would it be if Britain were to lose her Commonwealth? Would it be uncommonly harsh on her fortunes?

23. The sign of talent is diligence.

24. This is the land of the Upanishads. Who will believe it? We are floundering at the base of civilisation, having touched its nadir.

25.

The ability to love someone irrespective of the imperfections of the body and the incongruity of the mind is what constitutes spiritual love. Few, alas, come up to that level! Most are enmeshed in the body and the mind, mired as they are in materialism. A handful only in history have successfully traversed this sea of the senses to arrive at this sublime love that defies description. Such a lover is a free soul, such love the soul-stuff that liberates one from the gravitating pull of matter.

26.

6 AUGUST, 1958 (THE FIRST TWO LINES COMPÒSED IN A DREAM)

My son died the other day

And died with it my hopes,

Died with it my dreams.

And yet the shadows lengthened,

Yet life lingered on

Till in mellow eve at cowdust hour

Or deeper in the night perhaps

I hope to see his morning face

In distant dreams,

In some stellar beams,

Up somewhere in the heavens above

Or deep down in my heart.

My dawn broke,

It broke me apart.

But now we three will fuse again

Souls suffused with early love ❤️

To once more be whole.

Composed by Sugata Bose

27.

It is the mind of Bradman that was special. His high IQ, prodigious concentration, exquisite judgement, excellent shot selection, gifted natural reflexes, superb footwork using the full space within the crease to his advantage, and, above all, his insatiable appetite for runs that made him the perennial numero uno of batting that the game has seen.

28. Do not rush others with the flush of your emotions smasmodically breaking bounds. There are tranquil souls whose settled peace you ought not to disturb with your loudness of expression. For once give peace a chance. Let the boil cool to moderate the motions so that life becomes more livable.

29. Act. Do not react.  This is the central message of the Geeta.

30. Spirituality will come when you know you are the Spirit and the God you worship is the Spirit. Till then all worship, all devotion is but allegiance to the flesh, however well-camouflaged the motives may be, however adeptly the self-deception be carried out.

32. Dawn brings in hope and joy. Wake up to the blissful morn.

33. The Don marked a dawn in Australian hopes at a time of global depression when the nation's fortunes were sinking. He ushered in inspiration for the people to live to see him, and so helped Australia tide through the times. That the Don is Australia's best known face is small tribute to the memory of the great man.

37. We seek estimation in the eyes of others when we lack self-esteem.

38. Purple is the colour of royalty. But the days of royalty are gone although purple lingers on.

40. Night ushers in the dawn.

41. There is an end in everything except in the end itself. For it, it is just the beginning.

42. When you left me, I had nothing to worry. I was still left with myself. This final friend never leaves, never can leave. How could I have lived, how ever come to life but for you, my Self? You, or rather Me, am the everlasting life.

43. Myself I have never seen.

44. The victim survived the accident, then died of hospital expenses.

45. When women walk taller than men, men have a problem. It is essentially a matter of height.

46. India is increasing in her wealth of population. Every year an Australia is being born of her. India is suffering from hyper-obesity. Dangerous for her health and life prospects.

47. If the air we breathe be polluted, how can our minds be otherwise?

48. In this desert of life the sole companions are the sands. And dunes they form that drift in the wind to leave behind traces that melt in time.

49. You are the oasis of my life, the drift of my moods, the breath of my being. You are everything.

50. The flight of fancy is the habitat of heaven.

51. The light of love must be the leading light. But it must be love and not base desire restricted to oneself and one's own.

52. The facts of life are the stuff of legend.

53. Irrigate irritation with love.

54. Without absolute purity spirituality is a distant dream.

55. People with worldly aspirations can never be deemed spiritual nor can they realise God. Their God is Matter while God truly is Spirit.

56. Steadiness is the key. Unfailing, unflinching, unalloyed devotion and a mighty self-offering. That will work wonders.

57. The Movement is on. Come and invigorate it. We will flood the world and raise such waves as will transform the lives of men and women. Universal vision with focused local action. This is the way.

58. We are spirits encased in the body. It is a difficult thing to realise but once realised it makes life easy.

59. In this dark sea of delusion Mother Thou art my only refuge.

63. Do not argue with people unduly. Maintain peace at home. The ego rises quick to destroy all. If is silly to spoil great fortune over small bits that bother hither and thither. Assume an inner quietitude, an inner poise that will induce all peace. May all blessings attend on you! Remember what the Geeta says in this regard. Our mind is our greatest friend and our mind our greatest enemy. Befriend your mind and remain in peace and poise.

64. When you are disconsolate, seek solace in the fact that nothing on earth is permanent, that life is but a passing dream, that you are the real existence untouched by aught of earth.

65. The roots of the tree ate drying. How can the shoots survive? Water the roots of the tree of life and it will shoot to health and happiness.

68. Meditation is the only antidote to this ever-quickening pace of tech-invaded modern lifestyle. Go slow to live in peace.

69. The mind of man is the library where all knowledge is encapsulated to spring forth into expression when the right inputs are given. Resonance between the outer and the inner worlds is what calls forth the fire of knowledge.

71. Crony capitalism on the rise.

72. The key to remaining connected with all is to be detached in one's concern for all.

74. What need I any? I'll self-revolve. So says the spiritual man.

75. We are an indisciplined nation. Our first duty is to discipline ourselves. Perfection in work must be the yardstick by which to judge such self-discipline.

77. Serve with all your might. The light shines before you.

78. Health is happiness, wealth is worry.

79.

80.

If you compromise with a single untruth, even if you are a monk of the most elevated organisational status, you will not be able to realise God. Impossible -- that is the word. For Truth itself is God and whosoever forsakes It in its relative or absolute aspect, forsakes God.

82. Sleep opens the storehouse of the subconscious or is it the superconsciousness that I perceive in the depth of a dream?

83. The micronotes of music make for the symphony.

84. The whole world is harping on love. It is the recurring theme of life, its ever-sustaining primal principle. ❤️

85. Man dreams, and in his dream he sees.

86. Silent are the ways of the seer. He creates no turbulence. The Rishi realises.

87. The Avatar creates a depth-churning, fashioning a new universe of men.

88. Is there a day the goes without God chanting for us?  Not an hour passes nor a moment flits by without the Beloved filling us with His life-breath, His love that sustains.

89. The mighty river of love rolls on, carrying the multitude along.

90. Earthly life is the surface of a vast ocean of consciousness. There is a depth to it that passes understanding. And, yet, in the depth of the night when the world sleeps, in the depths of this dream where reaches not the surface mind of man, a music sounds beckoning man unto a homecoming. Calleth the Mother, calleth She with Her primeval longings. Man cannot but respond to that call. The Divine descends and ascends the soul of man.

91. Who was it that in Dakshineshwar came in disguise?

92. When the cuckoo sings, whose melody comes through?

93. The world is becoming increasingly noisy. And, yet, Nature sings the same way. Where discordance seems, it is the handiwork of man.

94. Quell the chaos and be at peace. War is unnecessary for the evolution of life in the human phase. Culture must provide the fillip to evolving life.

95. Gandhiji was way ahead of his times. Gandhiji was not understood by man who settles things by unsettlement. Ages must pass before Gandhiji's significance will in its depth dawn on man. The cultured have seen his significance and honoured him. The lowly must evolve to understand. But in the fullness of time this Messiah of mercy must gain ground in the mind of man to usher peace and understanding. Whatever detractors may say, and they have plenty to say in the coarse context of the immediate, the Mahatma's effulgence will spread till it envelopes the world of warworn man.

96. Where moonlight ceases, sunlight reigns. There's always hope for the future for it draws us ever to our glorious past or deepens our perception to the depth-Presence.

97. Our paths intersect but our minds do not meet. And this is the predicament of man. At the billowy surface harmony can never be. It is the depth that harmonic lies. Dive deep, O man, to live. Dive deep.

98. The material man dissolves in the spiritual man but only when the dross of desire wears off.

99. First, the light. Then delight.

100. Moments make the thread of eternity. And yet in a single moment is contained it all.
