THEY SUFFER SILENTLY BUT THEY SUFFER, NONETHELESS

THEY SUFFER SILENTLY BUT THEY SUFFER, NONETHELESS

As I get to know more about our Muslim girls' sorrowful state post adolescent-marriage to aged people of brutal bearing, I feel terribly sorry for their pitiable state in a system of patriarchy that considers them property to be dispensed with as and how their masculine masters deem it fit, to be beaten and brutalised at will and to be used and abused in a manner that makes marriage a mockery in human terms.

We must raise and rescue our girls from their state of desperate helplessness and honour them as beings who in excellence of attributes equal and so often exceed men, in holiness are the repositories as yet of our sublime spiritual culture and in civilisational terms the mother of the human race.

And this atrocity on women, often scripturally sanctioned but essentially flowing from a socially ingrained sense of male supremacy, is not limited to the Muslim community alone by any stretch of fertile imagination but is prevalent throughout the world across cultural spectra. It is the product of the pernicious proverb, 'Might is right', and can be done away only by empowering women more and more till men dare not cross the charmed circle that protects woman and womanhood.

May Mother bless all our girls with purity, peace, health and happiness! Where women are happy, there the gods dwell.
