FROM DISUNITY TO UNITY, FROM DEBILITATION TO STRENGTH

FROM DISUNITY TO UNITY, FROM DEBILITATION TO STRENGTH

🕉 Federalism of faith, the sheer democracy of it and its consequent spiritual multiculturalism is at once the Hindu's 🕉 strength and failing. The freedom of the Ishta (chosen deity) divides and debilitates the body politic of the Hindus and needs strengthening by consciously making the underlying common consciousness of the Brahman the ever-awake basis of collective life. To this effect Swami Vivekananda had given the clarion call to 'let the lion of the Vedanta roar' and Swami Dayananda had exhorted us to 'go back to the Vedas'. These were not regressive calls but aggressive affirmations of our inherent civilisational status, the alarm bell sounding, 'Return to roots', in our racial progression to wakefulness and glory.

Source forgotten, the river dries up. Vivekananda and Dayananda, quite in distinct ways but with the common purpose of driving our racial delusion away, exhorted us to go back to the Vedas. And even earlier, Rammohan Roy had done the same. These three were followed in final fulfilment -- though the book that is the ever-revealing Veda remains ever open and turning every new page after another as seers and sages continue to grace this holy motherland of ours -- by Sri Aurobindo who yet again called forth the sleeping racial lion to self-consciousness in his own creative comprehensive way. Unto us now lies the act of awaking and sustaining our much 'wounded civilisation'. 🕉
