RAMMOHAN ROY, FATHER OF THE INDIAN RENAISSANCE ... 1

🕉 Forget not this hero who battled alone against mighty odds to help save elite English-educated Hindus from conversion to Christianity by providing for them an alternative path to piety. This saved Hindu culture from definite decimation as Upanishadic dualistic Hinduism was reaffirmed with monotheistic devotion its focus and progressive instincts and inspiration its motor for social change. Vedantic Monotheism could successfully counter Abrahamic monotheistic Christianity ✝️ and Islam ☪️ and conserve Hindu 🕉 solidarity. It stemmed the tide of Christian proselytising among the emerging western-educated Hindu intelligentsia and thus helped preserve our age-old Hindu culture.

An erudite, a multilingual polymath, a daring social and religious reformer, Rammohan Roy stands luminous as the father of the Indian Renaissance but is sadly a forgotten figure in public memory today. We must revive his study among the people by discussing in simple terms his phenomenal contribution to nation-building. To that end this is the first write-up in a prospective long series of short sketches and analyses that I shall present on this matchless mahapurush (titanic figure/great man/seminal giant).
