SETTING THE PERSPECTIVE RIGHT

SETTING THE PERSPECTIVE RIGHT

I do not want a whole host of toxic 'friends' and 'followers'. A few devoted, sincere and loving ones will do. My profile wall is not a garbage can for people to pour in their invective against great men. It is a temple of the Divine where great men are honoured, adored and worshipped, a space where principles, lofty and noble, find sanctuary and expression in concrete terms. Let it not be defiled by foul-mouthing venerable ones whose critiquing may in more civilised terms be accomplished. Cultural decline thus need not find support from my passive acquiescence. It will meet with active resistance in its place. May my Facebook friends resort not to verbal violence, low linguistic use in denigrating great ones who the world honours for rightful reasons! A quick conception based on no reading or misreading texts will ever lead to such misapprehension of historical events and episodes, and will further fuel falsities in the name of ushering in truth. Hence, deep study is needed along with the raising of one's cultural and spiritual standards.

I shall not allow my profile wall to be the poster-wall of politics. Here we shall discuss, deliberate, debate and differ but not denigrate, disparage, disrespect and disregard. Let this be uppermost in our minds that our seminal ones, if we cannot even respect, where lies our future? The fault, dear countrymen, lies in us and not in our great ones that we have been reduced to such an abysmal level in national living where we have forgotten to even pay our respects to those who lifelong worked for our freedom and emancipation if even in imperfect terms, for even they had their human frailties. Why do we not sacrifice our lives instead, our pleasures and pastimes to redress the imbalance that has set in through their mismanagement of past affairs? Is it only patriotism to shout down each other, denigrate the greats and lie idle in our discharge of duties towards building the future India? Ponder over this and sober down your present attitude of raucous railing against the founding fathers of modern India.
