IN RESPONSE TO RAJYASHREE CHAUDHURI'S QUESTIONS

Rajyashree Chaudhuri : Sugato Bose why some people are bent on ensuring that the propaganda of Netaji's Marriage and fatherhood gets established without an iota of logic or basis? How much incentive driven is this compulsion to promote? Has Netaji abandoned public life post Aircrash story in lieu of these false stories making the rounds from the mouth of the people whom he thought to be his own???
Sugata Bose : Rajyashree Devi, your question is pertinent and requires a researched answer. On the face of it, though, it is clear that there are forces at work which are trying to neutralise the gain that will accrue to India if Netaji's image is upheld before the Indian masses, and why so, even the Asian masses as well. Thus, there is a systematic bid to tarnish his image through foisted relations and progeny that bear no credible evidence to justify existence. Localised interests may also play their perfidious part in perpetuating this myth. Political gains that accrued to the Congress then are a thing of the past but their inertia continues to this day as the affiliated parties to this treachery find no exit route for survival or sustenance.
At the individual level it may be said that man, being the product of this universe which itself is the compounded version of truth and untruth, is highly susceptible to falsity and fabrication as these heighten his fantasy tending to the truth hidden in the cavity of his heart. But the experience of life deadens the sublimity of his soul and from his childhood fantasies of fairies and phantoms, genies and giants, he is grounded unto the brutal world of everyday reality where survival is often a variant of its primeval forest beginnings. Now the truant mind, mischievous as it is, begins to play its part in undermining the course of his future evolution and he begins to lose his grip on life. Inherent deficiencies bearing the stamp of past karma begin to reveal their trademark patterns whose summation and resolution is what is termed 'character'. Past habits reveal in present deliberations as character flaws cloud vision, corrupt conceptions and carry out carnal conspiracies, and what better a way to execute these malefic missions than to foist them on a hero who has been decreed a 'registered death' to suit the powers that be. Rajyashree Devi, we are a nation, true, and a nation, indeed, but are we men?
Then there is fame to deal with, 'that last infirmity of noble mind'. A man gets to write a bit and, conceited, becomes a 'gentleman'. Then he thinks his words are gospel truth and he may freely foist opinions on others to shepherd the flock that has lost its way. Top it all with the servile nature of meanness manifested as manhood pure, and you get the lot of sycophants free, ambling in the den of fame, for sure. To get a pat from a foster-father, a nod from a famous one or a note of backing from a sly contriver seeking to elicit support for a cause rotten and foul, is the sum and substance of sycophants stoking the embers of this dying flame even as facts surface to belie the lie. Rajyashree Devi, dynasty reigns in the Indian blood and we have scarce outgrown old imperial modes, servility has sunk into the psyche deep, 'twill be time yet, ere we are valorous free. Till then, my friend, thou leonine soul, must fight on hard to squash the troll.
