Although 73 years have elapsed since the day of Dr. Syamaprasad Mookerjee's demise, relevant files ought to be scrutinised both in New Delhi and in Jammu and Kashmir to find clues that might lead to the unravelling of the mystery surrounding his death. With the BJP in power at the Centre since 2014 and the Article 370 having been abrogated in 2019, this apathetic attitude of the party towards its founder is unexpected and certainly not acceptable. 

13. Citizens must know their fundamental rights and to activate them in a corrupt political world they must develop character enough by performing their fundamental duties. Otherwise their rights will be trampled upon. 

The bulk of politicians today wield power not for people's welfare but for serving their selfish interests. This is in evidence throughout the nation. 

Politics is dirty business, power game at its worst. To expect politicians to be sages is to live in a fool's paradise. 

Knowledge is power for the average person. A modicum of legal knowledge empowers him/her in this uneven fight between the ruler and the ruled. 

The Constitution upholds the best ethical principles in its legal framework but it is upto the administration to activate it. Here the citizens must play their significant part by ensuring that justice is done. But how? By awareness of the law of the land, ethical behaviour in keeping with the law and through force of character keeping the administrative order in line with the law as well in the absence of which it must be brought to book. This is how democracy must be made to duly function.

He has been the most popular Indian for quite some time now and Gandhi today is no match for him. The sheer weight of Dalit numbers behind Ambedkar would make him an automatic winner anyday. It was clever, rather clever to leave Gandhi out of the reckoning in the popularity contest to avoid embarrassment for the so-called 'Father of the Nation', a strange epithet ascribed along with the other one of 'Mahatma' to this leader of the Indian Independence Movement who did not deserve either.
