Sugata Bose @CPIM West Bengal : The Left needs to nationalise itself before internationalising. That would be contrary to their Trotskyist ideology, not so much the Stalinist or Maoist ones. Also, like all politicians they must manifest character. Mere opportunism will not deliver adequate results. Empathy for the poor is a grand attribute, not only a humanistic one but even spiritual in the ultimate sense, but that should be in truth and not merely to scavenge upon socioeconomic issues to somehow seek the limelight and if possible to build some sort of a popular base for a political comeback. Such shallow idealism devoid of revolutionary energy is bound to dissipate overtime nullifying all chances of a comeback.
