THE LIGHT OF THE AGE

THE LIGHT OF THE AGE

We are on the threshold of a new age. It must have its new religion, its new ideology, ideals and ideas which will nourish the age and bring its to its future fruition. This is what we must attempt to give the world.

We have a failing. We are unformed individualists who are socially inept as well. We have learnt selfishness but not self-sacrifice for the common weal. As such we are neither capable individually of achieving excellence nor efficient socially in our power to combine the forces of good for our common welfare. On both these counts we need to improve before we may bring into existence a strong polity.

The world is evolving. It is changing its character. As population explodes and culture plummets, inevitable socioeconomic changes are coming into being. The challenges of bare existence may have significantly decreased with science providing basic amenities of life to large sections of humanity but increasing interaction has also brought fresh problems into being. These are to be met afresh for which a new philosophy of life and living is necessary, the traditional Abrahamic religions falling woefully short in this regard. The Indian dharma traditions must here come of help but suited to the requirements of the world of today.

1. Love thy Lord as thyself.

2. Love thyself as thy Lord.

3. Thou art the Self and thou art the Lord.

4. Respect God no more than you would respect yourself.

5. Be irreverent if you will but lose not love, that abiding sustenance of life.

6.
