POESY: LIGHTNING FLASHES

LIGHTNING FLASHES

Lightning flashes

Light up the sky

But for a moment.

Then off they fly.

Life's like that.

Today here,

Tomorrow no more.

Don't ask me why.

The earth dries up,

Cracks and breaks

As rain quits post

To seek mate nigh.

So, parched soul

Doth thirst and dry,

Wither the leaves

Send a piteous cry.

The good God watches

From throne held high

By turn of Time

It will be I.

Then no more lapse

Into sorrow and sigh.

Fresh forever

With what's me, what's my.
