COMMUNISTS, THE GUARDIANS OF INDIAN DEMOCRACY

COMMUNISTS, THE GUARDIANS OF INDIAN DEMOCRACY

Communists can destroy democracy, abolish religion, take away human rights, fundamental human freedoms, establish the tyranny of a single party under the cover of 'dictatorship of the proletariat', obliterate all opposition through death-purge, establish a police state of repression and fear, and yet they have the temerity to call Hindutva a fascist ideology which in point of fact is aggressive Hinduism by way of defence against predatory proselytising religions and political ideologies hell-bent upon its destruction. Indian communists are a curious lot working against the very dharmic ethos of our sacred Motherland. Not that crony capitalists are working in line with our dharmic ethos. They are equally evil and are draining our national resources to fulfil their greed for gain. But the subject here is communist hypocrisy, no more.

HOW CONVENIENTLY COWARDLY TO CRITICISE HINDUTVA WHILE REMAINING MUM OVER ISLAM'S FUNDAMENTAL TENETS!

HOW CONVENIENTLY COWARDLY TO CRITICISE HINDUTVA WHILE REMAINING MUM OVER ISLAM'S FUNDAMENTAL TENETS!

It is wonderful that people care not to read about Hindutva in detail, Islamic oppression in India historically suffered, the ideological motivations and objectives of Islam, its gory history and obliteration of conquered cultures, finally the Partition of India, its causes, ideological basis and consequences, and yet denounce Hindutvavaadis as Sanghi extremists. No sense of proportion or parity in their preferences, predilection and prejudices even as they pose to be the prophet of people's welfare, a people that has seen a thousand years and more of genocide, depredation, destruction of religious sites, academic institutions and cultural desecration besides the mass molestation of its mothers, sisters and daughters. Top it up with enforced conversion at the edge of the sword and you have your picture perfect, albeit a bit reddened in spilled blood. Sisters and brothers, read history---Jadunath Sarkar, Ramesh Chandra Majumdar, Sita Ram Goel, Ram Swarup, K.S.Lal and a host of others before you utter your choice epithets against Hindutvavaadis, the RSS and the Sangh Parivaar, while carefully avoiding the criticism of Islam's fundamental tenets that directly stand against democracy, pluralism, inclusiveness et al. Study the Islamic sacred texts. Then speak foul of Hindutva which supposedly stands for defence of Hindu rights and the preservation of Hindu civilisation. 🕉

Sugata Bose @Harshita Mishra : This is the way to counter communists. They will of course say that democracy is necessary as a preparatory step to uproot the supposedly fascist Hindutva ideology---fascism being the nemesis of communism---en route to setting up the dictatorship of the proletariat which in practice reduces to dictatorship of the Central Committee which in turn gives way to dictatorship of the Politburo before it spirals in to reach its destination, thus far camouflaged, the dictatorship of the General Secretary of the Party. This is their game plan and their political evolution in hard reality terms.

Sugata Bose @Kumar Swapan : Linguistic digression does not alter ground reality.

Sugata Bose @Kumar Swapan : Live in Bangladesh, Pakistan or Afghanistan for a while and you will understand the necessity of aggressive (in the self-defensive sense) Hinduism that is Hindutva.

Sugata Bose @Kumar Swapan : Bharatmata, a non-existent reality?

Sugata Bose @Kumar Swapan : And it should be for the due defence of the Hindus. Must Hindus forever meekly suffer at the hands of Islam which is patently a political ideology?

Sugata Bose @Sameer Banik : And how do they make their money before going gaga over philanthropy? And why is their philanthropy needed by the have-nots after all in a society that would have not required such charity were it not made patently unjust economically by these modern maharajas and their conquest of the coffers of the world? Further, whose money is it that they gather by good and foul means before going on their dole-distribution? Whose resources are resources after all that a few by clever manipulation called legalised business gather them all while impoverishing the masses in its wake before their pricking conscience and the further greed for name and fame associated with such 'sublime' charity prompts them to become hyper-magnanimous?

Sugata Bose @Saumitra Basu : Will take a long write-up to explain to your satisfaction. Meanwhile, ponder yourself and try and discover its meaning and significance. [In response to the question as to what 'Taka maati, maati taka' means.]

Sugata Bose @Prabir Banerjee : But from childhood I am hearing that our national debt is increasing. Even USA is indebted heavily to China. How do nations ever come off this debt, I am eager to know. Is it by depredation of the weaker nations periodically? Or is this a vicious cycle that knows no end except in periodic waivers post global cataclysms, or, perhaps, by currency devaluation or resource hypothecation? I am ignorant. If you know, kindly illumine me jn this regard.

Sugata Bose @Shankar Kumar Chatterjee : Yes. Otherwise it will gather force with passing days with all its concomitant consequences. Your humour remains open-ended as well and I look forward to it.

Sugata Bose @Dulal Krishna Basu : That's a bit harsh. The Government is a benevolent father as well, perhaps, an indulgent one as well for a good cause. People do fail to comply with conditions for diverse reasons and it always is fair to afford them every possible opportunity to dispense with their duties duly. After all it is the government of the people and for the people. No harm if an additional day comes by way of work unless of course it is held as infringement of bankers' right to rest as legitimately they may, it may be argued. I was myself somehow initially unaware of linking my Aadhar Card number with my LPG station and was helped out of the situation by an accidental announcement over TV on the penultimate day whereupon I hastened to get it linked. It was extremely helpful for me and gracious of the gas station's officers that they saved me from a lot of future inconvenience. I managed to get things done on 30th March, 2024 when the last date was announced to be 31st March. Hence, an attitude of service and help is always welcome notwithstanding the fact that some, as you affirm, will not still discharge their duties despite the additional day being afforded. But some will. And it is for these compliant ones that a people's government affords these opportunities as the very philosophy of social help and the very objective of the formation of society in the first place must deem it to be justified.

Sugata Bose @Sankar Banerjee : It is an unfortunate exhibition of lowly passion, a sad fate of leadership in an eminently civilised country as India. My condolences on the death of civility and the progressive plummeting of political culture.

Sugata Bose @Anand Pandey : It is the Finance Ministry's job. Ours is the alarm felt.

Sugata Bose @Sankar Banerjee : Abysmal state precipitated in West Bengal, courtesy the honourable Chief Minister. Bengal sliding into becoming Bangladesh. Bengalees have lost all manliness. Else they would have resisted instead of propping up this antinational state of things.

Sugata Bose @YouTube [Virat Hindustan Sangam] : What about Swamy's role in running down the reputation of the Roys of NDTV? Swamy was most vocal about their supposed financial irregularities. Is it a volte face now on his part?

Sugata Bose @YouTube [Virat Hindustan Sangam] : Just as Modi's sycophants sing in unison his praise, Swamy's sycophants here are singing to his tune.

Sugata Bose @YouTube [Virat Hindustan Sangam] : Who is this participant gentleman donning a red shirt who is uncivil enough to call a questioner an idiot with Dr. Swamy sitting pretty on it? Is this the way to deal with commenters? Is this decent journalistic culture? And I see this quite regularly happening on this channel week after week with no intervention from the principal participant Dr. Subramanian Swamy. What should one make of it---dharmic dispensation? We watch this programme for information, not for being hurled abuse.

Sugata Bose @Prasenjit K. Basu : I know about the prejudiced partisan journalism in America. Perhaps, democracy is nowhere there in the real sense where the intention is to uphold people's best interests. Such is the world where self-interest precedes people's interest. However, meekly accepting it or justifying it does not become a civilised people's best feature. Hence, we must point out these aberrations in our system en route to improving it. Else, culture keeps plummeting. Commerce must not be allowed to make culture so badly and sadly subservient to it that we are subjected to nocturnal nuisance in the name of news every day. Now it is pandemonium all the way and not presentation of news of whatever sort. It is lowly marketing to capture viewers' attention. Why call it journalism at all? It is base commerce. So bad is the scene today and getting worse by the day that selective viewing of YouTube videos and reading across a wide cross-section of articles is the only way to get to a semblance of truth about the actual state of events unfolding. The masses are misled and this by deliberate deflection caused by the political-commercial combine. Alas, who cares for the country?

Sugata Bose @Samarbijoy Chakraborty : Benevolent dictatorship can quickly degenerate to a malevolent one, once absolute power has been concentrated in a single hand. It is worthwhile remembering Einstein's warning in this regard. Dictatorship, he says, by the law of probability based on manifested human nature thus far, is more likely to proceed this way: One benevolent dictator is likely to be followed by nine malevolent dictators.

Sugata Bose @Kumar Swapan : No, Netaji did not want fascism as such in India, although he had expressed his admiration for the discipline and force that it enjoined on the people which facilitated fast national development. That he wanted 20 years of dictatorship post-independence to regiment the indisciplined population of India is a fact but then Netaji periodically made statements that may seem contrarily disposed to each other. For instance he had written that he wanted a fusion of fascism and communism in India without delineating its detailed structure, functional system and ideological substance. Again he had from the war front abroad said that after India's liberation it would be up to the Congress to determine the future course of the nation and it would democratically choose the governing leadership of the country. He denied that he would personally assume power on liberation of the motherland but that it would entirely be the prerogative of the Congress to determine the future leader of the country in whom power would be so vested.

Sugata Bose @Kirti Phadtare Pandey : Yes, you have made a pertinent point. The transition from dictatorship to democracy would not be easy but would require another people's revolution. But then Netaji may have said what he did merely to emphasise the need for national discipline and order rather than aver the need for actual enforcement of dictatorship which, as I have clarified in the previous comment, he had no intention of imposing as he submitted to the suzerainty of the Congress in regard to decision-making on national affairs post independence.

Sugata Bose @Kaushani Chatterjee : Swamiji had great hopes in the youth of India. Character-building, study of the history of India, renunciation and service---these he stressed upon as he, visionary sage that he was, looked to realising the glorious future destiny of India, far more glorious than her glittering past.

Again I say, I hope my communications are welcome and not bothersome. In case it is the latter, do intimate me and I shall desist. My mission in life is to galvanise the youth in the name of Swamiji who remains the perennial embodiment of the highest sublimity of youthful energy.

Sugata Bose @Pkc Chowdhuree : So, let dictocracy be. 'Is that it? Is that so?' [Quoted words from Himmler's dialogue in the Hollywood film 'The Scarlet and the Black'.]

Sugata Bose @Sanjeev Shrivastava : Sunny Leone is my mother as all women are, being the embodiment of the Divine Mother. Such an observation from your side is insulting to womanhood and deserves denunciation in the strongest possible terms within the bounds of civilised language. On behalf of all mothers, sisters and daughters I lodge this protest against your immoderate observation.

Sugata Bose @Subhrajyoti Bhowmick : Stand as independent candidate in your voter constituency and vote for yourself. Just in good humour.

Sugata Bose @Pkc Chowdhuree : While the poor perish and all opposition is crushed out.

Sugata Bose @Facebook friends : Please view this video. Amlan Kusum Ghosh is yet again speaking on Netaji in his inimitable style, albeit with a deep sense of hurt at the public apathy towards this supreme hero of our country and his unmistakable frustration at the clever disregard shown towards the unravelling of the Netaji disappearance mystery by changing governments. We have a role to play here. Instead of filling up our hours in idolence or distraction over inconsequential matters we can join hands to mount public pressure on the government till it is compelled to unravel the Netaji disappearance mystery for sheer existential reasons.

https://youtu.be/prFhKxz_wDM?si=cUTg9DU6y9k5WFrI

Sugata Bose @Pkc Chowdhuree : So, you agree India is having a dictocracy now and not a full-fledged democracy?

Sugata Bose @Pkc Chowdhuree : How would you see me opposing the Emergency? I was barely 14 in 1975 and I wonder if we were acquainted then. Or, did you know me then and saw me supporting it?

Sugata Bose @Kumar Swapan : Why are you opposed to the RSS?

Sugata Bose @Kumar Swapan : I am opposed to communism in practice because of the horrors it has perpetrated throughout the world from inception in October 1917 till date. The twentieth century bears testimony to my averment. Marxism as an economic system has made seminal contributions and it has not yet become redundant. But revolutionary violence and barbaric purges post revolution I am opposed to even when conducted in the name of 'dictatorship of the proletariat' when in effect vast millions of those very proletariat are butchered by autocratic directors of the revolution. There are other reasons as well. Marxism is a materialistic philosophy that is outdated today with advances in modern science, the discovery of the laws of non-deterministic physics that is quantum mechanics. Its economic models have also suffered failures everywhere in the long run, although planning and enforced discipline to the point of terrorising the people and killing vast numbers of them did lift Russia rapidly out of medieval backwardness to modern advancement. But such a system of force by denying basic human freedom must necessarily rot which it did. Hence it failed and after seven decades the system wound up where it was born. These are some of my objections. If you want a more detailed description intimate me and I shall try to comply with your request.

Sugata Bose @Pkc Chowdhuree : You seem to set much store by my opinion.

Sugata Bose @Shiben Shome : We are limiting it here to political leadership. So, let us leave out Swamiji. At any rate the two Narendras do not quite go along well together, the younger one being the antithesis of the elder.

Sugata Bose @DrAjey Shindde : So you agree that ethical quality has declined in the masses overtime?

Sugata Bose @Hridansh Surana : Solid one. I hope the humour catches fire and spreads.

Sugata Bose @Sandipan Ghatak: Swamiji was also the shaper of Hindutva. His speeches and writings are replete with references to that tune even as his speeches and writings are replete with references to seemingly the reverse philosophy. To pigeon-hole Swamiji within one's cellular thinking would be to deny his message its organic wholeness. Thus, to label him as a secularist or a Hindutvavaadi, a socialist or a capitalist, a dualist or a non-dualist, a freedom fighter or a shunner of all politics, a nationalist or an internationalist or even a universalist would be selling him short as per one's own limited conception and partisan predisposition. Swamiji was, to put it in his own words, a phenomenal being with head and heart 'as wide as the sky and as deep as the ocean'. He included all, excluded none, embraced all systems of thought, analysed them and systhesised their best elements to form a superstructure of thought where each one is seen in its positional phase and context, and humanity helped on by adhering to such without having to suffer radical cultural changes that are damaging and detrimental to natural growth.

Study of Swamiji is a lifelong process and as one evolves, Swamiji's message assumes altered significance that lends it a more holistic and wholesome meaning. We are ever in a hurry to stamp Swamiji with our preferred positional proposition, puerile though it may be, and in the process we miss out on the sage's vaster imperatives and impulsions in the context of India's and humanity's chequered history, for Swamiji by self-averment belonged as much to India as to humanity as a whole. Hence, Swamiji remains the inexhaustible library of human thinking, nay, higher consciousness, whence humanity will yet arise unto life and action en route to eventual liberation. 🕉

Sugata Bose @Ranjan Mitra : It will be hacked by hacking experts from across the world. But, perhaps, you are looking way ahead into the future when such voting will become normal. Appreciate your long vision. [Reference: Online voting.]

Sugata Bose @Facebook friends : Amlan Kusum Ghosh is a wonderful storyteller. These short videos of his are so absorbing that they become the nocturnal waker's deep delight as the celebrated filmmaker delves deep into the Netaji disappearance mystery and unravels facets hitherto unknown to many a commoner like me in his own inimitable style. His reverence for the hero is palpable, almost godlike, as the very name Bhagavanji in his evolved status as a spiritual-political dynamo should seem to suggest, so incredible his activities stretching across continents are. This is the serialised narration of a breathtaking life incognito of one who close associates of the sage are convinced was our disappeared leader Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in his incarnation as monk extraordinaire. Keep watching this incredible series on an incredible life whose end is yet to be, for he lives on in the depths of unresolved mystery in the hearts of devotees whose number is legion.

HINDUS NEED NO LESSONS IN INCLUSIVENESS FROM SHALLOW, SUPERFICIAL THINKERS WHO CAN BETTER PREACH PLURALISM TO THOSE WHO ARE SCRIPTURALLY BOUND TO BE INTOLERANTLY EXCLUSIVE

HINDUS NEED NO LESSONS IN INCLUSIVENESS FROM SHALLOW, SUPERFICIAL THINKERS WHO CAN BETTER PREACH PLURALISM TO THOSE WHO ARE SCRIPTURALLY BOUND TO BE INTOLERANTLY EXCLUSIVE

Why ask Hindus to be inclusive when they are already so? Study the Abrahamic scriptures and ask their adherents to practise inclusiveness right from modified or rejected scriptural base. But will they? Ask and find out and then criticise Hindutva and its strong adherents if you still find reason enough to do so. You are cowards who can only criticise Hindus, Hindu gods and goddesses and Hindu scriptures but dare not do so the Muslims and the exclusive, intolerant nature of their sacred texts for fear of terrible retribution. Neither are the Christian evangelists holy cows as they silently keep on with their conversion work annong the poorer sections of the Hindus, having almost completed their mission of 'saving souls' among the tribal people. Delve deeper into Christian and Islamic history to find out how they have injured the body politic of the Hindus for centuries, how they have across the world wiped out civilisations and indigenous religions and supplanted Christianity and Islam there. Here in India we have suffered over 1300 years of Islamic depredation, devastation, conversion, conquest, tyranny and subversion of our Sanatan civilisation. Christians have taken over the North East, large sections of Kerela, Goa, and are continuing to spread their proselytising net among the Hindus. So are the Muslims increasing in numbers in West Bengal, Kerala and elsewhere in India which in time to come will overhaul the very democratic state of India and replace it with an Islamic state as in Pakistan and under cover in Bangladesh. Where will your surface pluralism be when India through demographic transition becomes a totalitarian Islamic state with the exclusive Sharia ruling its subjects? Hence, keep your hypocritical talk to yourself and manifest a semblance of character and civilisational understanding that will have put paid to your superficial thinking and articulation thereof.

6. Over the last ten years if the USD--INR exchange rate has fallen from 1 USD/60.95 INR as in 2014 to 1 USD/83.34 INR as on 29.03.2024, have we progressed as an economy despite pronounced GDP growth?

7. Over-centralisation of political authority is undermining the federal structure of India and posing a danger to democracy. Beware!

8. Give every man his due and not all the dues to only one man. That is the fastest way to the death of democracy and the birth of dictatorship.

9. We are a democracy. No leader must be given demigod status. A leader who welcomes such adulation and positively encourages it must be carefully considered.

10. We are in the Makkah phase of Islam in India. Once the Madinah phase takes over through demographic transition, it will be a different scene altogether. Partition resulted out of the latter. Total Islamisation will result in the future if Hindutva cannot defend Hindu interests. Awareness through study of Islam holds the key to defence of the Dharma. Else, India, Sanatan Bharat, will die.

11. We should not go abroad and criticise our country. We should praise it for all its virtues. Criticism should be in India itself.

Photo: Dr. Syamaprasad Mookerjee whose slogan 'Ek desh mey do vidhaan, do pradhaan, do nishaan nahi chalega, nahi chalega, nahi chalega' galvanised a movement for the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India which found fruition finally in 2019 in the abrogration of Articles 370 and 35A but cost the great man's life in 1953 under mysterious circumstances in jail in Srinagar. LET CHARACTER SPEAK, NOT WORDS

Empty words make not for character. Let the Prime Minister manifest the spirit of what he verbally articulates by his renunciation and humility rather than by his chest-thumping and vanity. Ram and Krishna both had mighty strength of character which our leaders are mighty short of. The Chief Minister is no exception to this principle. Her constant comedy, aggressive affirmations and sweet talk in alternate cycles hardly redeem her status as the redeemer of the masses she supposedly stands for. Let character speak, not words.

ARISE! AWAKE! ... 2

ARISE! AWAKE! ... 2

Devotees, do not be lambs. Be lions. Stand up for your principles. Do not cower before authority. Manifest the martial spirit. Remember, soft sentimentality is not spirituality. Sacrifice fear at the altar of divine love. Then lion's courage will come into you.

Why fear death when death of the body is inevitable? Your dispassion should help you conquer fear. It is fear that kills in life, not the final end to life. So, kill fear if you fancy yourself to be a devotee. The more you practise fearlessness, the less will you be afraid of phantoms that haunt you now.

Our country, much wounded over 1300 years, needs valorous souls who will dare death in their search for truth and light and in defence of the Dharma. Are you prepared to be one such soldier of the soul?

What is life? What is death? A trifling thing when spent in the pursuit of sensate pleasures. Give up such a debased life and wake up to Vivekananda. Study his works religiously. Cultivate shraddhaa and manhood, the manhood which Swamiji spent his life's energy to quicken among his countrymen, especially in his beloved Bengal. Must you fail him and only pander to your puerile vanity by giving effeminate chants glorifying his name which may seem worthwhile on the face of it but which you very well know is but the cover for your concealed cowardice? Shed cowardice and be a man, a real man whose very presence is a blessing unto mankind, whose character inspires the highest humanistic impulses in fellow beings and whose personality is purged of all lowly sycophancy to the corridors of power and of all pandering to the vanities of the rich. Can you become such a follower of Swami Vivekananda who you so admire? Then become one. And others will follow.

HANDS OFF!

HANDS OFF!

Muslims and Christians should not teach Hindus tolerance. They should instead look into their own sacred texts to find their fanatical fundamentals. Then they should read the Hindu scriptures to come to a comparative understanding of the world's religions. Their awakened wisdom---if they are not hypocritical or otherwise motivated---will help them realise that Hindus are merely reacting to Abrahamic intolerance after suffering it for over 1300 years. And they must do so to preserve themselves. All this denunciation of Hindutvavaadis as Sanghis, gomutra drinkers and fanatics will then vanish and better sense prevail.

Let not Islamic and Christian fanatics teach us Hindus how to conduct ourselves. Let them first settle their own houses and reject the fanatical fundamentals of their own faiths. After that we may have a civil discussion regarding religious conduct.

'UNITY IN DIVERSITY' CLUB MEMBERS, ANSWER PLEASE

I see open denunciation of the Sanatan Dharma, Hindutva, RSS and Hindu fanaticism by so-called liberals. But why do they remain mum on Islamic and Christian foundational intolerance and violence? Is pluralism to be taught to Hindus whose Dharma is essentially universal in scope or ought these wiseacres to shun hypocrisy and pull up---if they have the guts, that is---these two toxic Abrahamic religions for their embedded intolerance and violence which has drenched human history with blood and bludgeoned civilisations out of existence? Are these 'liberals' being honest about their reading of Indian history as well? Awaiting an answer from the members of the club called 'Unity in Diversity'.

ARISE! AWAKE! ... 1

ARISE! AWAKE! ... 1

Swamiji wanted aggressive Hinduism---aggressive in the sense that Hindus must work as well with a missionary zeal and must stand up in defence of the Dharma, and not aggressive in the violent sense---by way of countering Christian evangelism and Islamic conversion work among the Hindus. He welcomed Christ-like figures but not corrupt converters of innocent Hindus to the Christian fold.

Today we are faced with the triple menace of Islamic, Christian and Marxist conversion of Hindus at a steady rate. Islamic jihad is openly advocating the destruction of the kafir (infidel), the mushrik (polytheist), the murtadd (apostate) and the mulhid (atheist). Ghazwa-e-Hind is being openly proclaimed by way of issued fatwa by Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband as unfinished business scripturally mandated by Islam in Hindustan. In the wake of all this we should heed Swamiji's message of aggresive defence of the Dharma which is our only hope of collective survival as a race, as a civilisation and as a culture that promotes pluralism in its most universal intent and form. Instead of holding self-aware Hindus as violent ones bent on destruction of all contrary culture we should stand in solidarity with them to combat these corrosive forces of Islamic jihad, Christian evangelism and Marxist materialism in our vast Hindu body politic. Our unity is our strength, our infighting will be to our peril. 'Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached!'

On the way back from Belur Math one evening I entered the Saradapeeth Meditation Hall and took my seat midway through a discourse of a middle-aged monk squatted on the floor in front of Sri Sri Ma Sarada Devi's installed photograph. The monk, I now gather, was then 54. But what he said caught my immediate attention and has remained etched in my nemory ever since, at first in a curiously incongruous way but later distilled in the clarity of consciousness. The monk was the Secretary of Saradapeeth, Swami Smaranananda, much thinner then and far less imposing than his later colossal figure post spiritual advancement to the highest realms of realisation. The words came through thus: "āĻ†āĻĒāĻ¨াāĻ°া āĻ¯াঁāĻ•ে āĻ াāĻ•ুāĻ° āĻŦāĻ˛েāĻ¨, āĻ“āĻ‡ āĻ†āĻ¤্āĻŽাāĻ‡ āĻšāĻš্āĻ›ে āĻ াāĻ•ুāĻ° |" ["Who you all call Thakur, that Atman is Thakur."] This was simply incomprehensible at first how the peerless Paramahamsa despite his exalted status as Avatar, one who had a form and had attributes, could be the formless, attributeless Atman. Clarity came later after years, delusion dispelled. But the impact of those few words spoken with unmistakable clarity of vision was tremendous and it proved the power of the personality that uttered them.

Years later. 2007. Swamiji's birth anniversary celebration at his Ancestral House. Swami Smaranananda at 78 was now General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. After Swami Jitatmananda, Secretary of Swamiji's Ancestral House, had delivered his inspiring address in which he went gaga over the settlement in Seattle and the contributions of meritorious Indian students to high-tech US industries, Swami Smaranananda rose to the podium. His manner of speech was so unlike his flamboyant younger brother monk. He said, "āĻ†āĻŽāĻ°া āĻāĻ¤āĻ•্āĻˇāĻŖ āĻļুāĻ¨āĻ˛াāĻŽ, āĻŽāĻšাāĻ°াāĻœ āĻŦāĻ˛āĻ˛েāĻ¨, āĻ•েāĻŽāĻ¨ āĻ•āĻ°ে āĻ†āĻŽাāĻĻেāĻ° āĻĻেāĻļেāĻ° āĻ¸āĻŦ āĻাāĻ˛ āĻাāĻ˛ āĻ›েāĻ˛েāĻ°া āĻāĻŽেāĻ°িāĻ•াā§Ÿ āĻ—িā§Ÿে āĻŦāĻĄ় āĻŦāĻĄ় āĻŦিāĻļ্āĻŦāĻŦিāĻĻ্āĻ¯াāĻ˛ā§Ÿে āĻĒāĻĄ়াāĻļোāĻ¨া āĻļেāĻˇ āĻ•āĻ°ে āĻ“āĻĻেāĻļেāĻ‡ āĻĨেāĻ•ে āĻ¯াāĻš্āĻ›ে āĻ†āĻ° āĻŦāĻĄ় āĻŦāĻĄ় āĻ•োāĻŽ্āĻĒাāĻ¨িāĻ¤ে āĻ•াāĻœ āĻ•āĻ°āĻ›ে, āĻ…āĻ°্āĻĨ āĻ‰āĻĒাāĻ°্āĻœāĻ¨ āĻ•āĻ°āĻ›ে, āĻŽাāĻ¨āĻ¯āĻļāĻĒ্āĻ°āĻ¤িāĻˇ্āĻ া āĻĒাāĻš্āĻ›ে | āĻ–ুāĻŦ āĻাāĻ˛ āĻ•āĻĨা | āĻ•িāĻ¨্āĻ¤ু āĻ†āĻŽাāĻ° āĻŽāĻ¨ে āĻšā§Ÿ āĻ¤াāĻ°া āĻ¯āĻĻি āĻŦিāĻĻেāĻļে āĻ—িā§Ÿে āĻŦিāĻĻ্āĻ¯াāĻ°্āĻœāĻ¨ āĻ•āĻ°াāĻ° āĻĒāĻ° āĻĻেāĻļে āĻĢিāĻ°ে āĻ†āĻ¸ে āĻ“ āĻ—্āĻ°াāĻŽে āĻ—্āĻ°াāĻŽে āĻ›āĻĄ়িā§Ÿে āĻĒāĻĄ়ে āĻ—āĻ°িāĻŦ āĻ—্āĻ°াāĻŽāĻŦাāĻ¸ীāĻ° āĻœীāĻŦāĻ¨োāĻ¨্āĻ¨ā§ŸāĻ¨ āĻ•āĻ°ে, āĻ¤ো āĻ†āĻ°ো āĻাāĻ˛ āĻšā§Ÿ |" ["We have just heard what Maharaj said how our meritorious students have been going to top American universities for higher studies and how after completion of study they are settling in that country and getting employed in top American business houses where they are earning money, name, fame and position. It is all well and good. But I feel if these students after acquiring higher education abroad return to their motherland and spread out in the villages in the service of the poor villagers, it will be even better."] The audience was surely taken aback by the frankness of his statement and moved by the simplicity of this sannyasi whose intense feeling for the suffering rural people impelled him to utter these soulful words. The direction of the mission of the Ramakrishna Order was once again set right by a seminal soul.

A couple of years later. 2009. My mother and I used to visit Belur Math on Sunday late afternoons. After the routine temple visits at the Math, we used to pay a visit to Swami Tattwasthananda (Bibhuti Maharaj) at Arogya Bhavan. One evening we had just prostrated before Sarada Ma's giant photograph at the ground floor of Arogya Bhavan when in came Swami Smaranananda (General Secretary, RKMM) with a couple of monks on some business. He seemed simply out of proportion, a giant of a man, a titanic soul, and we fell at his feet in reverence. It was some sort of a revelation, I should say, which reminds me now of 1987 when Swami Lokeshwarananda at Belur Math on Sri Ramakrishna's Tithipuja Day was flooded by a surging crowd of devotees after Swami Atmasthananda (then Assistant Secretary of RKMM) had suddenly darted ahead and fallen at his feet. That day it seemed that Lokeshwaranandaji was a divine being quite apart from ordinary mortals in terms of sheer size of spiritual personality. Smarananandaji evoked in 2009 at Arogya Bhavan a similar response. Only he seemed more removed from earthly aught, yet absolutely focussed on the executive work at hand, all power, yet all grace, as he received our prostration dispassionately and with no airs.

These are sporadic occasions, stray memories of Maharaj which remain like fresh flowers laid at the hallowed feet of his person only.

'Smaranananda'---the bliss of memory. For him it was the bliss of memory of his beloved Lord Sri Ramakrishna but for us it is the bliss of memory of Maharaj himself, a simple man in a complex world, a natural in an artificial setting and a youth whose first love remained his last---Ramakrishna.

WHY FLATTER A LEADER IN A DUE DEMOCRACY?

WHY FLATTER A LEADER IN A DUE DEMOCRACY?

Why flatter the leader to make your way in politics? Let character have its full play instead. Why bend before a leader who does not bend in turn by way of gracious acknowledgement of your deference unto him? Why this self-abasement to appease your greed for gain under the pretext of service to the nation? Why this servility, this slavish cringing in the name of deference to a leader who certainly does not deserve such undue exhibition of sycophancy from colleagues and cadres that can only tarnish his public image? Or, is it a deliberate ploy to prop up electoral support in a polity that prefers the personality cult to pondering over policy? Whatever it is, it does not augur well for a party in the long run to overly emphasise its leader as it will surely flounder and fail to hold its own once the leader has retired or has otherwise been rendered irrelevant. No wonder Swamiji used to ever stress on principle and not personality when he spoke despite knowing very well the temperamental preference of the Indian public for personality. The hyper-adulation of Indira Gandhi by the Congress brought about its downfall post her demise despite the landslide sympathy victory of 1984. In  a like manner the hyper-projection of Narendra Modi as the face of the BJP and the NDA Union Government could spell the doom for the party once the Modi Era is gone. Personality cult always has its pitfalls and this is it---it does not allow lesser leaders of the hour to blossom into mature ones who may be ready to take over the reins of governance in equal measure once the current hyper-hyped one has retired. Food for thought, I hope, and a point to ponder.

DO IT AS HE WISHED IT

DO IT AS HE WISHED IT

Our spiritual teachers must galvanise the youth with vigorous messages of Swami Vivekananda delivered in a robust manner with purity the bedrock of their utterances. It is, as Swamiji said, "Character that cleaves through adamantine walls of difficulties." The message should be manly, the manner manly and the overall personality of the preacher manly. Swamiji said, "My life's gospel can be summed up in one word---manhood." Swamiji had towards the end of his life said to Nivedita, "My mission is not Ramakrishna's nor Vedanta's nor anything but simply to bring MANHOOD to this people." This must be remembered by the monastic and the laity and Swamiji must be brought home to the emerging youth in accordance. They must be vivified by his message and their life's course altered towards a higher direction, not only that of self-development in the material sense (Abhyudyay) but also in the virile spiritual sense (Nihshreyas).

WAKE UP TO THE DANGER THAT FACES US AND ACT IN ACCORDANCE

WAKE UP TO THE DANGER THAT FACES US AND ACT IN ACCORDANCE

Why does the Government of India not ban all such organisations and academic institutions that radicalise citizens unto taking up arms against the country? Why must a blind eye be turned to the fact that millions of children are brainwashed systematically on a regular basis with divisive principles based on archaic, absolutist, fanatical theological mandates?

You allow intolerance at seed to grow and expect to root out terrorism in the shoot? That can never be. A complete overhauling of the academic training ground of future potential terrorism is needed with modern liberal education supplanting it.

When the most major theological school announces Ghazwa-e-Hind, which is patently treasonous, as valid doctrine and a like institution declares 2047 as the year for setting up an Islamic state in India, it is portentous and demands heavy handling by the Government. A soft democratic approach cannot be the way to deal with such antinational forces and it needs total weeding out of such from our polity.

Is the Government heeding the danger enough? Is the polity aware of such a dastardly design as these periodic pronouncements point to?

It is time to act. A nationalistic education system must replace all such faith schools where the very faith mandates intolerance and violence, principles which are drummed into the heads of impressionable children to make them unthinking fanatics with the potential to cause a lot of social unrest at the least and destructive violence otherwise. Children of a single generation, if taught liberal principles and if shielded from dangerous theological doctrines in faith schools, can bring about a healthy change in society. What then remains is to impress upon parents and elderly family members not to indoctrinate their young ones with toxic religious doctrine that potentially trains innocents into radicalised rogues.

Any religion that is by fundamental doctrine intolerant of other religions or dharmas and is in effect antinational must be treated as such and disallowed space in our country. In the name of democracy and 'unity in diversity' such evil ideologies cannot be allowed to flourish among sections of the polity. It is in our national interest and in our civilisational interest that we must foster the Sanatan spirit of inclusiveness in all our citizens and that can never be unless the intolerant faiths are weeded out of our national life. A tall order, but it must be done. Else, eternal India will one day live only in memory, perhaps, but will die a practical death. That must never be and we must see to it that such a cataclysm does not visit us anymore.

MESSAGES GALORE ... 64

MESSAGES GALORE ... 64

1. The Hindu-Muslim problem would never have been had Islam been an inclusive religion and not intolerant of Hinduism.

2. āĻ¸্āĻŦাāĻŽীāĻœীāĻ° āĻŦāĻ‡ āĻ¨া āĻĒāĻĄ়ে āĻĒāĻĄ়েāĻ‡ āĻ†āĻœ āĻĻেāĻļেāĻ° āĻāĻ‡ āĻĻāĻļা !

3. The intent becomes the execution, the cause transforms to the effect.

4. Thoughts are at base bubble-zero. And they burst to zero in to their base. The interim period is life in its transmigratory span.

5.

Is there a dawn

Without hope reborn?

6. Spiritual organsations raise donations by the millions but pay their employees a pittance. Very unspiritual.

7. There was a time when the brain seemed blank. Now thoughts in never-ending stream keep teeming. When will the final blankness be?

8. God works silently, does not advertise.

9. Work is done by the three modes of Nature. Why does an individual claim such excessive credit for it? Spiritual ignorance.

10. Our hopes were dashed when Netaji disappeared. It would have been a different India otherwise.

11. Life rushes on. There is no time to stand, is it, and reflect? Then the essence has been missed in the current. Hang on awhile.

12. The sleepless mind dreams yet of a brighter dawn to be.

13. So long as scriptural hatred of infidels continues to be fed into the minds of millions by ritualistic observances, social solidarity can never be. National integration in such a scenario is mere wishful thinking. Over the last millennium it has never been and neither will it happen in the next. Archaic religious divisions must be discarded by disregarding these scriptural mandates or totally rejecting them. Then there is hope to begin with, for the devil of division will still persist, assuming newer modes. But this as of now must be done---a national narrative where there will be a least common denominator for all to subscribe to.

14.

Birds of a different feather

Flying together.

Hope at home

All is fair weather.

15. The contrast will be worth watching. As India develops at a gallop, Bengal lags behind in idle self-glorification.

19. There are four yogas : Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga and Raja Yoga. Likewise there are four bhogas : Jnana Bhoga, Bhakti Bhoga, Karma Bhoga and Raja Bhoga.

20. When was it that you laughed last?

21. In travelling is more time spent than in stay at the destination. Such is the law of sustenance at the summit.

22. Happy birthday, Abir! May Thakur-Ma-Swamiji shower their love on you to which we add our own. Be fulfilled. Be blessed. Love all. (23.03.2024)

23. 75% of the mind to God and 25% of it to the world is the Ramakrishna ratio of work (3:1) for sufficient sustenance in life.

62. Would like to see some real ascetics propagate the Sanatan Dharma through personality vibration than any effeminate monk verbally attemting to do so. Scriptural elucidation notwithstanding, it is character that counts and it is spiritual vibration emanating from the soul on fire that cuts through barriers of ignorance to touch the hearts of people and transform them. Puerile preaching of philosophy hardly helps for it merely excites the idle curiosity of the lay person or at best weakly stimulates the mind of the intellectual but patently fails to transform human nature. It is all words in the end, idle words in an endless deliberation on the spiritual end of life, hollow words without substance of character lending them wholeness. Thus is it that spiritual lectures, insipid and uninspiring, fail to penetrate the depth-consciousness of the audience to any aspired end.
