BETWEEN THE WORD AND THE DEED

Our politicians must learn from Shree Ram the virtue of truthfulness. His whole life was the highest exemplification of truth in its absolute and relative sense. Every bit of Shree Ramchandra glowed with the effulgence of morality and character whose underlying basis was his filial adherence to truth.

Shree Ramchandra appeared in this age as Sri Ramakrishna and upheld the same virtue of truthfulness as the bedrock upon which character was to be built. Sri Ramakrishna famously uttered, "Truthfulness is the austerity of the Kali Yug."

Between verbal glorification of Shree Ram in the public sphere and living out his precepts and principles in one's life there is an enormous gulf as we can all see. It is great that Shree Ram is being ritually installed in his temple which is under construction but we must ensure that we duly install him in our hearts as well for which we need to cultivate character that is founded on truth. Every devotee then becomes a living temple of the living reality of Ram. Jai Shree Ram!
