MESSAGES GALORE ... 34

MESSAGES GALORE ... 34

1. The limitedness of the rational intellect, while serving as the guard against crude errors the mind may be susceptible to, also circumscribes the domain of the Spirit and prevents its fuller manifestation. As Sri Aurobindo rightly said, "Reason is the helper and reason is the bar."

2. The minds of men are the constraining conditions which limit our independence. And, yet, society being an interdependent entity established to ensure collective security by fostering specialised need-based vocations, must necessarily entail such curbing of the free flow of personality. Working one's way out of this thwarting web of imposed limitations is the secret of work, the science of yoga. Aloneness while living amidst a multitude of people and solitary seclusion 'far from the madding crowd' are the ways to secure tranquility of the mind, repose of the soul and perception of the infinitude of the being.

3. The anchors of programmes should speak with proper diction no doubt but without the least tinge of affectation.

4. Effeminacy, thy other name -- affectation!

5. Forget now, then remember when?

6. God is not UPARWALA. God is ALL-DISHAWALA.

10. We need to be less loud and more harmonious when we speak. A fair bit of moderation, a tinge of musicality would do our diction right and bring home the message better to the audience.

12. I feel like going out into the world and doing something worthwhile. It feels suffocating at home in its sterile atmosphere.

13.

14. Lillee was a great bowler but a mean man. Recall his nasty behaviour with Gavaskar at Melbourne, 1981.

16. Q. What is the easiest way for the ordinary man to find God?

A. Do your allotted work well. Serve society through efficient performance of office work.

17. The ability to improvise is essential to successful performance of Hindustani classical music.

18.

One more spring has come.

How many more we'll see,

Who knows?

Let us enjoy this one

Lest winter comes too soon.

19. Let us enjoy this earthly hour by loving others, by serving others as best as we can, not that it is an end in itself but that it is the sure way of seeking peace with our selves by forging a bond with our sundered selves.

21. It is the intensity of thought that matters, not the duration of thought.

24. First seek the God within you, then seek without. Introspection is the means to discovery of the Self. 🕉

25.

Two solar sadhus, Swami Vivekananda and Swami Dayananda Sarasvati. Both daring personalities.

26.

Our failing form tending towards dissolution even as rising waves of desire fulfil their fleeting objective. The body serves its sinking purpose unto release of the self in the Self.

27. The shallowness of a polity shows up in the shallowness of its leadership.

28. The state of India today is such that the question "Why is my stomach paining?" will instantly draw the response "Because of Nehru and Gandhi."

29. It is amazing that Netaji's extended family members are bent upon burying the truth about Netaji's disappearance in the name of bringing an undue closure to the unsolved mystery.

30.

I am always with You, my Lord, inseparably so, eternally, and You are forever with me. This is the call of the born lover of God.

31. Changeability, thy other name is the mind!

32. Constancy, be thou my faithful friend!

33. Love, thy common name is the self!

34. There is a soft touch to music, a sweetness that lifts the soul, which defines its indefinable essence. The least tinge of harshness in rendition disturbs the harmony and throws the audience into the arms of a jarring discordance.

35.

Was Bose truly greater than Gandhi? The world does not seem to think so at least. Great men at home and abroad have nearly all placed Gandhi at a much higher pedestal. What is your considered rational view?

36. Small services rendered by its citizens make for big changes in a country's destiny.

37.

Gandhi and Nehru were far greater than Bose's fanatical followers give them credit for. The world's contempt they will get for showering such contempt on seminal personalities of the Age.

38. Torn between acceptance and rejection the struggling soul finally strikes the golden mean and becomes free.

39. It seems from public opinion that if governmental backing be removed from Gandhiji, Netaji will quickly supercede him in public acceptance as the numero uno leader of our nation.

40. A historical study of Gandhiji's and Netaji's contribution to freeing India would be more welcome than highlighting one to the near exclusion of the other.

41. We are as yet a nation in the making. Let us make it well taking the lead from neither Netaji nor Gandhiji but from both in the light of Swamiji.

42. The Mumbai film industry makes fun of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and Hindu Gurus but dares not do the same about Islamic icons. Ought Hindus to be subjected to such humiliation and the Sanatan Dharma depicted in such an abominable way? The Hindi films not only not show anything derogatory about Islam but take care to portray it in the most positive light as if Hinduism is a mass of stupid beliefs and practices to be joked about and Islam a most enlightened religion whose practitioners are venerable people, devout and ethically more sound than the supposedly superstitious Hindus. The Hindus, indeed, are under siege, and that is so partly because of their own fault in that they tolerate every nonsensical stuff that is projected on screen about them and their worshipped ones.

43. We, Hindus, cannot complain about Islamic aggression in India when we are so averse to studying the Islamic scriptures in the first place and getting to know what Islam fundamentally stands for. Sita Ram Goel and Ram Swarup have written extensively on this matter but we care not to read their books. In the absence of knowledge about Islam on account of our own negligence, our defences are lowered and we suffer in consequence. Whose fault is it then that Hindus are under siege?

44. As India gets more and more Arabised, the burkha, the nikab and the hijab are becoming more and more visible here where earlier, Muslim women wore traditional Indian attire like the saree and covered their heads with the traditional ghunghat.

45. The conversion creed is dangerous for our society. It has already split the nation. It will do so yet again. We must disallow conversion from the Sanatan Dharma to the proselytising paths. How it may be done needs due reflection and the passing of the necessary laws. But is it possible in the current political scenario of a democracy that defends not the rights of the Hindus effectively to stop such persistent perversion?

46. O'Reilly was a combination of Garner and Warne. His height allowed him pace and bounce that likened him to Garner, and his leg-spin likened him to Warne. In some sense O'Reilly was resembled Kumble on account of his height and the considerable pace he generated as a leg-spinner, although, Kumble hardly ever spun the ball. Even Chandrasekhar as a leggie bowled at quite a speed but O'Reilly's greater bounce from a higher dipping angle separated him from the Indian spin wizard.

47.

Go there where they don't shed a tear,

I can live with myself.

48. Love is that which touches the soul.

49. Night after night I cannot sleep, having neither sense nor direction, just wasting away.

50. The hour is come when dawn must break, and break with it the sunbeams that'll light up my soul. Hope hearkens to the call of the rising sun.

51. Where there is ambition there is no love.

52. Where there is love, there is purity,  there is freedom. Passion is not be confused with love. It is physical, hence, limited. Love unlimited lies.

53. Free communication eases the burdens of life.

54. I need no relics, no sacred symbols to sanctify myself, for I myself am holy from end to end.

55. In a flash of memory you shine and I behold your lustrous form once more.

56. Do not float on the surface. Dive deep. Deepen your personality. Superficiality is the bane of our race today. Let us pull ourselves out of this shallow pool of fractured ideas and arrive at a deeper understanding of things. May our responses be deep and deliberate, not frivolous and fleeting!

57. A person who serves does not create self-importance but prefers rather to remain in relative obscurity. The one who creates self-importance, seldom serves. Humility and self-effacement are thus verily the signs of the virtuous and the knowledgeable. 'Vidya dadaati vinayam. Vinamrataa dadaati vidya.'

58. There is in nothingness a power that manifests as everythingness. This marriage of the void and the visible, the unmanifest and the manifest, this junction of the nought and the aught is the mysterious act we call Maya.

59. We Indians must outgrow this tendency to treat people on the basis of their status in society and must accord at least a semblance of equal respect to all irrespective of their social positions. We must also learn a bit of refined restraint in speech and refrain from rude references to others or a summary dismissal of their pleas and petitions as if they are inferior beings to be dispensed with so.

60. Spirituality is the transcendence of the limitations of the body and the mind. It constitutes the breaking free of the eight fetters that hold man in mortal captivity.

61. The soul seeks solace in its solitude. The Self broods on Itself.

62. A social man can never be spiritual. That does not mean that one has to be unsocial to be spiritual. It only means that man needs to go beyond the limiting norms of society to free himself fully, the freedom in which unfolds the Spirit in all its unbounded glory.

63. The cage holds. This mortal coil befriended may lend itself to subjugation of its vital impulses. But turned a foe, it recoils with a rude vengeance to dissipate force and further bind. The links that hold are many, the chain strengthening its grip as it becomes finer. Then a link gives way and, lo, you are free! Through a minuscule gap in the binding links, love has made you free.

64. When you know that none loves you beyond a critical point of self, know that have embarked uncertainly on your pilgrimage of love.

65. Rituals are good for they serve to regularise the fumbling soul. But reflection is better as it careers the soul along its inward journey wherein the beloved is to be discovered at the confluence of all loving currents.

66. If only men knew how to love, they would instantly find God.

67. God is the X-Being.

68. We have to free our thoughts from lower associations and link them to higher ones. In such progressive raising lies eventual release from the thraldom of Matter.

69. Enjoying life would mean acceptance of its limitations. But the rebel would love to be free.

70. Sometimes something sublime touches the soul.

71. Music is the repose of the soul.

72. British glorification of the Empire today is built upon keeping students in the United Kingdom utterly ignorant of the true history of their colonial past.

73. To give up the superstition of ages is so difficult and to add fresh ones onto it. Insanity!

74.

I am hale and hearty, fit and fine.

I am thine and Ye are mine.

75. Spirituality is intense Self-possession.

76. Islam and Christianity have introduced politics into religion by means of violent proselytisation. Otherwise, religion is peace all the way.

77. Society is our master. So, we are material. The day we become master of ourselves, we will become spiritual.

78.

Sunil Gavaskar and Vishwanathan Anand should be conferred the Bharat Ratna immediately. Both have done the nation inordinately proud by their seminal achievements and honourable representation of the country in the international arena.

79. 🕉 Dependence on oneself is better than dependence on God. But it has be an enlightened idea of the self, an ever-expanding entity culminating in the transcendental Self. 🕉

80. 🕉 Organisation that rots at the top spreads the rot throughout. Fortunately, earthly ones have their spiritual roots below and not as in the Uurdhamoolam. Hence, if the soil be kept fertile, the life of the organisation may be prolonged by weeding out the toxic heads that are ruining its goodwill and future prospects. 🕉

81. 🕉 God, the bundle of fanciful imaginings, of hopes and expectations, hoaxes and frauds, is ever deluding you into living a slavish, dependent earthly existence. Come off it and depend on yourself. Within your microcosmic form is packed all that is there to divinity. 🕉

82. Corruption in the polity can end when individuals in large numbers resolve to lead corruption-free lives. Unfortunately, slaves tend to foster corruption by supporting corrupt leaders in politics, industry, spiritual organisations and in family. This slavishness has to be rooted out from public consciousness by fostering real democracy based on equality.

83. When in doubt about your abilities or your uncertain future, believe in yourself. You alone can pull yourself out of the mire you are in and you alone will have to do it eventually. Others, if they will, may only support you for a while and that too when they please but you alone will have to do the hard job. So, have faith in yourself and fight on. In victory or in defeat you are your best help.

84. I have but myself to me. What else do I need? Let this be the art of self-containment.

85. The British stole money from India and impoverished her. Now we in free India must not steal money from our fellow beings and reduce them to poverty.

86. There is no spirituality left in the world. It's a sham, commerce all the way, greed and gain ruling everywhere in the guise of spirituality.

87. 'Organisation breeds new evils.' -- Swami Vivekananda

It is time to reflect and rectify stance. But who is lending ears to what the Swami said? It is business as usual.

88. I am not a Bengali. I am an Indian. I refuse to circumscribe myself with narrow regional limits when our national culture deep down is essentially one. 🕉

90. Happier to be the universal man than the parochial one full of limiting constructs.

91. The one who abides in the Self can scarce cast roots in local soil, his roots being located in his Consciousness Absolute which embraces all. 🕉

94. Shall India die?

95. When you serve someone, do you exert your personality on the served one and criticise him/her? What sort of service is that?

96. You can only unduly criticise someone when you harbour some sort of hatred against the person. Your ill-feeling seeks expression in your foul-mouthing the victim.

98. As population explodes in the lower rungs of society, culture will keep plummeting and human behaviour decline in standards everywhere.

99. We are excellent soccer players. We choose to kick our near ones as best as we can to gain valuable practice for better performance on the bigger stage of life.

100. A baby is born with hope. The old man dies in despair. Alas, what a sad turnout of the events of life!
