This book must be read by all and sundry as they seek initiation into the mystery of Netaji's disappearance. The late Prof. Samar Guha was a tireless crusader for the truth of Netaji's whereabouts post 18 August, 1945. I remember the excitement surrounding his numerous declarations about Netaji in my childhood when with eager expectation we used to await the hero's arrival every 23 January as some die-hard devotees of our beloved leader used to give hopes to us of his definite emergence from the shadows on his birthday. One Biswanath Kaku in especial used to actually worship Netaji in the 1960s as God and he used to enthuse us most with his fantastic tales about Netaji's return in the garb of a monk which never came true though every time the day rolled on to 24 January. Who ever knew that nearly fifty years later I would be writing this little piece to introduce the book to my numerous facebook friends and the unknown faces who I befriend in our common devotion to Netaji? But so it is and it is my privilege to exhort you all to read this book by an uncompromising foot-soldier of Netaji's cause, Prof. Samar Guha. Today, with so much information filtering through, it seems that some may have had access to the other side of the curtain where a different world opened up altogether to witness the coming to life of a saga never dead but continuing to throb in the heart of human existence, so say the inhabitants of that strange kingdom of the 'once dead'.
