NATIONALISM, THE CALL OF THE HOUR

Swamiji was in favour of a nationalistic education and not the current West-oriented one which makes our children selfish. 

Leaders are letting us down and have lost their credibility to be called so. 

When film stars and cricketers are dubbed national icons worthy of emulation by the youth, the country in its cultural aspect has reached its nadir. Forthwith our heroes of past ages and of the revolutionary freedom struggle must be highlighted for the youth not to sink into abject materialism. 

The advertising culture and cinema of a debilitating kind are eating into our vitals and robbing us of our manhood right away. The eulogising of commerce constantly, the brazen worship of Mammon, the hankering after personal gain, the utter neglect of ideals, the appeasement of the masses through unsustainable gifts for electoral purposes, the steady encroachment of western 'values' in our polity and the utter lack of character in our leaders---all these are devitalising our citizenry. We need to arrest this cancerous growth and revert to our traditional ways of learning and living as prescribed by the Sanatan Dharma. Only then may we overcome this progressive degeneration and come alive once more, the children of the rishis and the heirs to immortality as the Shvetashwatar Upanishad proudly proclaims us to be. 🕉
