"Muzaffarpur, 11 August --- Today at 6 a.m. Khudiram has been hanged. With resolute steps and a cheerful demeanour Khudiram proceeded towards the scaffold. Even more, when the head-cover was drawn over him, he was seen smiling. As per Khudiram's wish his lawyer, Kalidas Babu, submitted the application for his corpse. After the District Magistrate gave his permission for cremation of the corpse, Khudiram's last rites were performed without much ceremony. A few men accompanied his corpse to the crematorium. Thousands of people and police personnel lined up on both sides of the avenue. The people had to be contained by the police. On the bank of river Gandak, Khudiram's last rites have been performed."
