IN QUICK RESPONSE TO A QUERY BY AN AUSTRALIAN LADY AS TO WHO KHUDIRAM BOSE WAS

The first known martyr of the Indian freedom struggle post-founding of the Indian National Congress in 1885. He was just 18 when he gave up his life at the scaffold smilingly after having been convicted and condemned in the Muzaffarpur Bomb Case. He, along with his fellow revolutionary, Prafulla Chaki, had gone to Muzaffarpur in Bihar to assassinate the notorious British Magistrate, Kingsford, but in the process, by an error of judgement, killed two innocent English ladies. Prafulla Chaki, on being cornered in a chase by the police, shot himself dead but Khudiram was apprehended, tried and executed. It is a gripping story, one that I will recommend you to read and get to know revolutionary India better.
