LET NOT JINNAH AND THE BRITISH ESCAPE SCOT-FREE IN YOUR BID TO BOOK NEHRU AND GANDHI FOR PARTITION

Jinnah betrayed India to partition her in alliance with the British and we foolishly absolve him of all responsibility for it, such is our antipathy for Nehru and Gandhi. This must not be. All of the perpetrators of Partition must be held accountable for it in historical terms. That ought to be our stance in the observance of truth and from it alone may we draw the correct lessons from history to avoid similar situations and fates in the future.

ABROGATION OF ARTICLE 370 NOT LEGALLY FEASIBLE IT SEEMS

The Indian Parliament is impotent to legislate largely on Jammu and Kashmir as it is bound by the strictures of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution which limits its legislative powers vis-a-vis the said state. This has created for J&K the unique privilege of being a state within a state and, hence, all the secessionist trouble there.

There are legal compulsions that prevent abrogation of Article 370 even with President's Proclamation. This is because of the fact that the Constituent Assembly of J&K, which had been invested with the power to recommend the President of India to issue, if need be, the order of repeal of this Article that had been given temporary status at its inception, did not do so before its own dissolution in 1957. Hence, as per the ruling of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir in October, 2015 and the Supreme Court ruling to the same tune on 3 April, 2018, the Article has assumed permanent status and cannot be ''abrogated, repealed or amended.'' And herein lies the governmental handicap in dealing with the State of J&K which is in the throes of secessionist insurgency ever. The Article 370 protects J&K from the Government of India's total control which in turn helps the separatist forces to proceed with their agenda of insurrection with relative ease.

In a recent debate where Dr. Subramanian Swamy faced the redoubtable lawyer, Ram Jethmalani, the former raised the issue of abrogation of Article 370 with Presidential decree but was silenced by the latter who quoted from Article 147 of the Constitution of J&K to set the matter to rest along the legal line mentioned above. Hence, one wonders what is in store for us over Jammu and Kashmir in the long run, segregated as it is somewhat constitutionally from the rest of India and refusing to integrate totally like the remaining provinces of our Union under a common penal code and a common constitution.

PLIGHT OF THE PANDITS ... 6

The 1990 exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley is the seventh such instance of their being forced out of their homeland in several centuries of brutal Islamic oppression of the Hindus there. This must be noted and all such illusions that are entertained by gullible Indians who are fed the tale of a harmonious civic culture of Kashmir down the ages must be dispelled.

The Pandits still live in exile as refugees in their own country but away from their home province where they had lived for thousands of years and flourished before Islamic brutality ended their peaceful prospering as a community and reduced them to servitude. They were converted at the edge of the sword, killed if they resisted and driven out of their home and hearth to live in banishment elsewhere. The Hindu temples were looted, desecrated and destroyed, the Hindu scriptures burnt and the Hindu culture made to halt in its millenia-old progression towards perfection and glory. Muslim settlers en masse were brought in to change the demographics of the Valley till today, after centuries of sustained persecution, the Hindus have been virtually wiped out of a region where they once formed the overwhelming majority.

And, now, the Islamic movement, that has worked for centuries in Kashmir to establish its absolute demographic control of the territory, has started struggling for its ultimate objective, that of secession from India and the establishment of an Islamic state under the Shariah. This is what the secessionists want in principle but which evidently has deeper designs of that perfidious state, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, whose agents these separatists are. For who can liberate Kashmir this way without receiving active support from this noxious neighbour of India and, in the process, not falling prey to that terrorist state which fuels and foments all trouble in this geographical paradise of the world but an earthly menace for the Hindus for centuries of Islamic rule?

INSINCERITY, THE ATTRIBUTE APPARENT TODAY IN MANY A RAUCOUS SELF-PROCLAIMED PATRIOT

Insincerity is an attribute that is easily noticeable on a pretentious face feigning hyper-patriotism. It, hence, carries no weight for it simply is devoid of that fibre of the being called character. This, unfortunately, is the dominant characteristic of the bulk of the ultra-nationalists who vouch so much for the nation verbally but, essentially, cash in on every crisis that the nation has to tide over. And the same applies to every motivated mutineer who sees the destruction of the motherland as so much personal attainment in perfidious politics done on behalf of foreign powers or agencies funded by them.

Without going into the specifics much further, for the details are well known to every conscientious follower of the nation's destiny, let me merely express my sadness at this national betrayal by so many for the sake of monetary returns, be they politicians, industrialists, journalists or intellectuals who care more for their personal profit than for the well-being of the country. And in this expression of sorrow I lodge my personal protest as well and exhort my countrymen to sincerely feel for the nation and contribute to its lasting welfare.

Ultra-nationalists on one side with their insincere constant clamour and pseudo-liberals with their incessant criticism of every move of the Central Government are, thus, pitted against each other in the sure debilitation of the nation. Here, the citizens must rise to the defence of the nation, not as a mob, chaotic and confused, but as a disciplined army of workers who have scholarship and feeling for the motherland to sustain their sincere patriotism. In their service to the nation and sacrifice for it will lie the lasting welfare of the motherland which is dearer than the highest heavens.

PURITY, THE BEDROCK OF SPIRITUALITY

No man who is impure can realise God. Religions that do not insist on perfect purity, absolute continence and abstinence from carnal contact as the prerequisite to spiritual enlightenment rot to the core. It is these that perpetrate terror in the name of holy war in their bid to forcibly convert all others to their fold, gain world domination and create a monolith of men which can never be. For such uniformity of terrestrial existence is against the very grain of humanity that derives its sustenance from the variegated order of phenomena, and necessarily fails to persist for any protracted period of time or over the entire mass of humanity. It creates unnecessary conflict among peoples by its attempted imposition of doctrinaire faith of a coarse kind deriving from desert roots and decadent habits, and is the cause of much of the modern world's medieval maladies. And all this is rooted in impurity, in incontinence, in an original impulse of fleshly faith that covers consciousness of the divine in man and reduces reason to a mockery of sorts.

The seeds have been sown and the harvest is being reaped and none can prevent its present and future fruition unless the very seeds are extracted from the earth and burnt to roots. Then and then alone will intolerant ideology that seeks its habitat in young minds to perpetuate its malicious cause be rooted out of human culture and a fresh growth fill the residual void. In such shall be the resurrection of submissive and subjugated humanity, in such shall be the fulfilment of humanity's pristine promise.

DARE YE BE A JAWAN AND DIE FOR THE NATION?

If conscription be tomorrow in the wake of war, how many of you who are now clamouring for armed conflict ready to enter service and lay down your lives for the nation? The defence of the nation must not merely be at the cost of the blood of the jawans but the sacrifices must be shared equally by all those who are now sitting on the fence and raising raucous hoots to urge the nation into war.

I send this feeler to you all and await your response to gauge the degree of your commitment in potential deed as opposed to mere words committed to so very easily with no personal consequence to bear beyond enduring the rigours imposed by wartime conditions.

It will be blood alone of the soldiers that will flow while the cowardly clamours continue to excite passions that will fruitless fail when the hour of conscription arrives for these providers of exciting entertainment.

Now think again. How many of you, who are in endless ruckus demanding war for the soldiers, yourselves willing to lay down your lives for the nation? If you are ready to do so, then forthwith join the armed forces instead of spewing frothy sentiment over the media. If not, then join the human army of nation-builders and spend your life's energy in contributing to the well-being of the nation. But do something beyond hurling mere verbal invective at the enemy.

FIGHT TERROR AT THE FUNDAMENTAL LEVEL WHERE FUNDAMENTALISM ENSUES

Islamic terrorism has a theological basis and must, thus, be countered ideologically as well. Else, radicalisation will continue as it done throughout history whenever circumstances have been propitious for its flourishing.

The Partition of undivided India is the most glaring instance of what may happen to a nation if this ideological war is not won. What we today see in the world everywhere in the name of jihad has been witnessed throughout Islamic history and we, Hindus, have paid the worst price for it with a thousand year brutal subjugation climaxing in dismemberment of our motherland. Tens of millions of Hindus have died in Islam's thousand year old occupation of India, our temples plundered, desecrated and destroyed, mosques built in their places, our universities and libraries burnt down, our cities ravaged, our women molested and carried away as loot in war, our men enslaved and sold, entire masses of Hindus force-converted to Islam and our civilisation brought to its knees by the sword. Such has been the history of Islamic occupation in India and the sad saga of Hindus continues even today in Kashmir from where they have been driven out en masse and rendered refugees in their own country.

Thus, to win this war against what is euphemistically called terror but what in reality is the global agenda of political Islam, implies that we have to arm ourselves in the knowledge of the very scriptural texts the jihadi outfits claim to be their authoritative inspirational source and we have to defeat such philosophy at its very root rather than indulge in surface pruning of inessentials that are but the effects of the deeper toxic causes. At the very outset we must acknowledge the fact that these terrorist activities have this scriptural basis that is fundamental to them and not mere decadent interpretations of the same. Only then may we work towards successful ideological combat of these texts that form the foundation of terror and, so, effectively eliminate Islamic terror from the face of the earth.
