THE ROAD TO RUIN OR REDEMPTION ... 2

THE ROAD TO RUIN OR REDEMPTION ... 2

The problem with the world is that hardly anyone dares to 'face the brute' as Swamiji said one should. Nearly all wish to hide behind a facade of nicety even if they are well aware of the wickedness that threatens them, the doctrinal dastardliness that creates disharmony and deliberate violence the world over.

We as a nation have suffered a millenium of persecution till our national life has well nigh been reduced to a feeble existence of sorts with our pristine civilisation much contaminated and perverted by proselytising cults that have sapped its erstwhile vitality and continues to do so. Our reforms have been reactionary, our progress impeded, thwarted by contrary cultures emanating from alien lands, and our civilisational identity blurred and blighted.

For well over a millennium we have been undoing the damage done even as fresh inroads and assaults continue to wreck us from within and without. Swamiji has said that harmony eventually shall be but it shall be the resolution of clashes and conflicts whereby a strong nation will emerge to recover its heritage and shower its spiritual blessings on the whole of humankind. We await such a development even as we work towards it. But, to reiterate, few, alas, dare to catch the bull by the horns and tame it or overcome its aggressive thrust. Most are too weak, too cowardly to combat the evil that has bedevilled us for so long.

Sugata Bose @Sharmistha Chatterjee : Proceed slowly but surely towards God-realisation. Advancement (Charaiveti) is the key. Life after life this baggage of body-mind holding the soul seemingly in the captivity of ignorance must be got rid of. This is the grand goal towards which we are all advancing and often going backward as well. This is the human body, the highest chance to see Him who is the one unchanging subject in an eternally changing objective world. So, make utmost effort to see Him who is the source of all knowledge, all peace and all bliss, the beautiful beloved enshrined in the heart of hearts in the depths of our being. 🕉

Sugata Bose @Bejoy Bandopadhyay : The child here in this photograph does not seem to be Satyajit Ray because Tagore here is in his late seventies and Ray is just a child, and yet Ray was much older when Tagore was as old as he looks here. It must be some other child.

Sugata Bose @Henry D'Almeida : Nonetheless, everything said and done, we ought to advance in the right direction and one such measure in regard to it, and a significant one at that, must be to popularise Sanskrit. The country's heritage and culture must not be lost to the people and Sanskrit holds the key to preserving it, for it is the preserve of it.

Sugata Bose @Jisnu Bhattacharya : Shameful denial of TAKA MATI MATI TAKA. Lajja! Nirlajja arthalipsa!

Sugata Bose @Vidya K : Marriage often results in conversion. Hindus quite conveniently convert when cross-religious marriage dictates conversion as condition. Subsequently, the offspring from such marriage become Muslims or Christians, so obliterating the Hindu lineage. Hindu father--Christian mother=Christian children; Hindu mother--Christian father=Christian children; Hindu father--Muslim mother=Mulim father and Muslim children; Hindu mother--Muslim father=Muslim mother and Muslim children. This is the way it goes. Besides this there is monetary inducement and academic advantages offered by missionaries to convert to Christianity. Such conversions are done voluntarily as well by opportunistic Hindus eager to secure easy advantage. We must create schools to outmatch Christian missionary schools.

Sugata Bose @Deep Mukherjee : Unconcerned they are and unconcerned they'll remain, for literacy and learning, religiosity and spirituality, patriotism and piety are all well-nigh absent in a polity that is famished, wounded as the civilisation is from a millenium of alien oppression.

Sugata Bose @Parnika Bubna : Good morning goes out with good wishes. Whether wishes count or not depends on the individual of course. But a wave of goodwill, may it extend to all as life rolls on in its expansive phase. As Swamiji says, "Expansion is life, contraction death."

Sugata Bose @Parnika Bubna : Read, read, read. Fulfil your intellectual promise.

Sugata Bose @Sinchan Som : Reverence and love, that which is due to all mothers, exceeding which is due to the golden womb whence have sprung three golden sons, Narendranath Datta (Swami Vivekananda), Mahendranath Datta and Bhupendranath Datta.

Sugata Bose @Deep Mukherjee : Which is why Swamiji said, "Unselfishness is God." So, let us be unselfish.

Sugata Bose @Dalia Nandy : The nation needs to be raised. I am fine in so far as our motherland is fine. Hope you are doing alright. But I hope you are not mistaking me for the grandnephew of Netaji which I am not.

Sugata Bose @Dalia Nandy : That is good. I must say you are a highly sympathetic soul who has sought to know about my well-being which few bother to do, and I must offer my gratitude and good wishes unto you for that. May Thakur-Ma-Swamiji bless you!

Sugata Bose @Debashish Paul : To read Vivekananda is also to know the truth about all the major world religions and not to live in gullible ignorance about the intent of the proselytising Abrahamic cults.

Sugata Bose @Sita Babu : I agree. Also, these appeals lead to donations by devotees far less well-off than the organisations that claim to be deficient in funds. This is how over decades and centuries spiritual organisations accumulate wealth while the givers of such are gradually reduced to penury.

Sugata Bose @Jagat Prasad Dash : Mythology gives moral lessons and must be absorbed but mythological literalistic reading of history must be rejected. Understand the intent of the post well.

Sugata Bose @Jagat Prasad Dash : But people are literally made to believe that this is how the universe evolved, which is a patent falsity in so far as discovered scientific truths are concerned.

Sugata Bose @Samarbijoy Chakraborty : This is the inevitability of Islamic proliferation. History amply testifies to it. Bangladesh, originally East Pakistan, was carved out of undivided India on communal lines and now the movement has come full circle. Is this not what their historical destiny deserves to be en route to massive cultural disaster as is being evidenced increasingly?

Sugata Bose @Jagat Prasad Dash : He did spread the Sanatan Dharma for sure, the Vedanta in all its deepest implications and extensive operative potentialities. Where in the post has it been expressed that the religion spread by Swamiji was specifically 'his own', that is, founded by him, so to say? You misread the intent of the post as you have elsewhere done as well to which I have duly responded. Swamiji used to say, "In our country people tend to fight over the crust of things and care not to read deep into the core. In the West this would be highly offensive if people did so. They ignore the surface of things and take the inner intent of a statement."

Sugata Bose @Jayanta Bhattacharjee : So it does. Buy there are apologists galore for superstition as well which slows down the country's progress. However, conservatism also has its flip-side advantage in that it preserves heritage and prevents the undue overthrow of time-honoured traditions. Problem is where mythical misreading of history becomes the modern discourse that strays from the original scientific approach of the Vedic civilisation, garbing it in Puranic interpretation and attempting to pass it off as the truth even if it is in strong divergence from discovered scientific truth. This hinders national progress. The polity must be rationalised and trained to look upon the past with reverence but not blind acceptance of every statement that is recorded in scripture even when they radically differ from scientific truths duly discovered.

Sugata Bose @Biswadip Biswas : The idea is that spiritual organisations must not lose their primary focus on spirituality and must not degenerate to becoming commercial corporations.

Sugata Bose @Madhavendra Singh Tomar : In Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission they do not observe Punyatithi (Mahasamadhi Day), as far as I know.

Sugata Bose @Deep Mukherjee : Yes, indeed. The Upanishads are, though, the concluding and climactic part of the Vedas themselves.

Sugata Bose @Sreedharan Kallithodiyil : Capitalism, demography and their concomitant evils have a dominant say in today's world.

Sugata Bose @Arunangshu Mandal : Ever the tragic tale of life's fairest flowers. Nazia Hassan of Qurbani film fame lay in rest at only 35 years. (03. 04. 1965 -- 13. 08. 2000)

Sugata Bose @Student : Stick to the normal routine in future. That is the most convenient time for good teaching. Abrupt changes to suit convenience are of lesser avail if even agreed upon on request. The best tuition is possible only when the rhythm of normalcy is maintained.

Sugata Bose @Jayanta Bhattacharjee : Yes, indeed. Sometimes the mood catches on, circumstances triggering ideas, energy overflowing and metamorphosing into volcanic words, and love for motherland finding expression in uncompromising terms.

Sugata Bose @Deep Mukherjee: That's the point. What about him? (Gandhiji)

Now read more and realise the real text of it. There lies the test which you must with credit clear. (Reference is to reading more about Gandhiji.)

Sugata Bose @Arunangshu Mandal :

āϤāĻ–āύ āĻŽāĻšাāϰ্āϘ āĻĒেāϞāĻŽেāϟে āĻļীāϤāϤাāĻĒāύি⧟āύ্āϤ্āϰāĻŖāϝāύ্āϤ্āϰ āĻĒāϰিāĻŦৃāϤ āĻ•āϰা āĻĒুāĻŖ্āϝāĻ•āϰ্āĻŽ | 🕉

Sugata Bose @Deep Mukherjee : And Vedanta preaches Me.

Sugata Bose @Arunangshu Mandal : Lovely! But Netaji had called Gandhiji so well before the birth of Pakistan.

Sugata Bose @Arunangshu Mandal : In regard to Islam Gandhiji's stance was clear. Any problems the Muslims had about their religious culture was their internal matter to be solved by them on their own.

Sugata Bose @Debashish Paul : 'Discolouration' would be, to my mind, the accurate single-word translation. Discolouration means disenchantment with the manifold sensory universe in all its spectral manifestation deluding the soul into identification with it, the universe of the senses including both the external physical one perceivable by the five senses and the internal subtler one perceivable by the mind. 'Raag' means 'colour' as well as 'love'. Hence, 'vairagya' means 'discolouration' as well as 'the conscious giving up of love', that is, 'detachment'.

Sugata Bose @A drooping soul : You are the numero uno in every sphere, in every skill, in every movement of life. Think of this always. Remember your inherent greatness. Let the call of the Atman awaken you from this dreadful earthly slumber. What is life? Infinite life awaits each one, ready for reception at one's doorstep, and yet man sleeps. Isn't it strange? And this is Maya. Reject it and arouse a mighty power within yourself. Remove the barriers and break free. Yours is this universe to inherit, yours all that you survey. Be not limited to this little frame, this frog-in-a-well consciousness. You are the ever-free, the never-bound source of everything and upon you has been gifted the boon to build yourself and build this motherland of ours. Make a grand success of it. You won't fail to deliver for it is your destiny to deliver thus. I see a grand future, a lustrous, luminous, brilliant one. My blessings ever attend on you and unconditionally forever!

Sugata Bose @Rinita Mazumdar : These rock carvings have been called degenerate by Swamiji and dubbed the legacy of declining Buddhism during its great fall following left-handed Tantric worship of the most abominable kind. Swamjji has strongly disagreed with these sexually explicit sculpture as being representative of our Sanatan culture where purity and sublimity have always been regarded the signature attributes of civilisation.

Sugata Bose @Rinita Mazumdar: Of course we have to accept Swamiji's words based upon historical study and the seer's realisation as truth. He is not anybody and everybody but the Yugacharya, the spiritual guide of all Sanatanis for the age and for ages to come. Tantra has three phases. They are the divine, the human and the animal. Degenerate Buddhism had filled Aryavarta with the lowest and most horrible carnality in the name of Buddhist Tantra. Which is why Adi Shankaracharya arose to cleanse Bharatvarsha of such degeneracy. But historical inertia and enveloping sensual Maya continued to have its sway. Hence, the degenerate representation of religious practice in rock after submerging the land in real in such fleshly practices. The legacy continues till date in terms of weakening impulses of the past paralysing the present-day polity. This is also why Swami Dayananda Saraswati gave his extreme clarion call of 'Back to the Vedas'. From Shankaracharya's times, Swamiji says, we have been recovering our lost heritage and the work is still going on. A thorough study of 'The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda', especially the 'Lectures from Colombo to Almora', is vital for the revitalisation of the Hindus snd the resuscitation of our culture and civilisation. 🕉

Sugata Bose @Dipak Dey : Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said it, likened establishment in fame as in pig excreta.

No, success in the sense of communication is definitely the objective of writing my messages, not any personal achievement in that as such. But reader response is poor and, hence, it seems an utter failure.

Sugata Bose @Rinita Mazumdar : Sign of cultural degeneracy, not art.

Sugata Bose @Pulak Routh : Your devotion for Swamiji is matchless---pure, simple, innocent, truly emanating from a loving heart. ❤️

Sugata Bose @Indibar Gurdas Mukherjee : Yes, multinationalism with American solo dominance destroying nation after nation.

Sugata Bose @Indibar Gurdas Mukherjee : Yes, Soviet Russia for sure. Not so much China as yet, in neo-imperial terms a far cry from both USA and Soviet Russia.

Sugata Bose @Saikat Goswami : Swamiji himself had wanted to set up a Ramakrishna ashram in the Kashmir Valley on s plot of land offered him by the Maharaja of Jammu-Kashmir but was prevented by thd British from doing so. The wily British were even then intent on sowing seeds of sectarian dissension among the people of India with a view to its future possible Balkanisation as and when historical circumstances would force the British to leave Indian shores.

Things changed after independence again. Nehruvian policy carried to perfection kept Kashmir backward through provision of Article 370 and Article 35A and the failure to with force subdue secessionist forces in the Valley. India's kid-glove treatment of Pakistan and electoral appeasement minority policies further complicated matters in the Valley which remained the hotbed of Islamic jihadi aggression threatening the break-up of the nation in its northern frontier. Ramakrishna Mission, ever an organisation that has played safe in its mission activities and stayed clear of all political trouble where it could, did not venture to open a second centre in the Valley. It must be granted that very often the situation as well was not conducive to doing so as well. I am not sure if the Government of India also would have allowed them to have done the same there. Anyhow, Articles 370 and 35A have now been abrogated and the Valley is set up for a new lease of life. It is moment opportune now to establish Swamiji's dream ashrama in this beautiful valley, the seat of Lord Shiva and veritably the abode of the gods, a sprawling second ashrama with its characteristic multifarious welfare activities. 🕉

Sugata Bose @Satyam Singham : Everything will happen in due course. The entire subcontinent will overflow with Thakur-Ma-Swamiji's loving grace. 🕉

THE ROAD TO RUIN OR REDEMPTION ... 1

THE ROAD TO RUIN OR REDEMPTION ... 1

Merely preaching liberalism will not save the world from toxic extremism. Daydreaming does not destroy dastardliness, effective action does. Purification of humanity is not the preacher's task. Giving birth to a holier humanity is the only way to ensuring a nobler order of social existence. This cannot be achieved by tall talk, by pandering to the vanities of the senses, by make-believe interfaith harmony that exists not, but it must be achieved by the sacrifice of thousands of souls at the altar of human evolution, souls that will dedicate their lives utterly to the cause of human regeneration in a fearless, uncompromising way, careless of return. This is what Swami Vivekananda had wanted and this is what we have failed to fulfil while all the while engaging in tall talk that is mere froth and no more.

The world has multiple challenges facing it, challenges that could extinguish human existence on earth or seriously impair human civilisation. The biggest threat is the environment, degrading fast unto human annihilation. Another is the nuclear threat, a stockpile of bombs sufficient to destroy the world fifty times over and send humankind careering backwards to the Stone Age within hours of a full-scale war. The third major threat is American domination of the world which catalyses the above effects. The fourth such is the rise of Political Islam with its demographic effects on Europe and India, the latter remaining as yet the last bastion of spirituality and civilisation that can as yet save the world. Where we are headed is by now clear but what measures must be adopted to avert catastrophe isn't.

A CASUAL POEM IN CONVERSATION

A CASUAL POEM IN CONVERSATION

Over the phone when the hour comes,

When the bubble can bear no more,

When it verges on its burst,

When the frenzied wait can scarce delay

A moment more,

When old curiosity's shop must buy its antiques before it sells,

Then shall I reveal such precious gems as sparkle by their own light

In the deep dark night of oblivion,

In the half-forgotten lullabies of primeval times

Whence arrive even unto this day messages of yore

The pangs of the newborn moment,

The universe with all its dreams locked in a misty mood of future possibilities.

There I dwell.

Come ye and 'catch me if you can'.

7. Is there a day the goes without God chanting for us?  Not an hour passes nor a moment flits by without the Beloved filling us with His life-breath, His love that sustains.

8. The mighty river of love rolls carrying the multitude along.

8. Earthly life is the surface of a vast ocean of consciousness. There is a depth to it that passes understanding. And, yet, in the depth of the night when the world sleeps, in the depths of this dream where reaches not the surface mind of man, a music sounds beckoning man unto a homecoming. Calleth the Mother, calleth She with Her primeval longings. Man cannot but respond to that call. The Divine descends and ascends the soul of man.

9. Who was it that in Dakshineshwar came in disguise?

10. When the cuckoo sings, whose melody comes through?

11. The world is becoming increasingly noisy. And, yet, Nature sings the same way. Where discordance seems, it is the handiwork of man.

12. Quell the chaos and be at peace. War is unnecessary for the evolution of life in the human phase. Culture must provide the fillip to evolving life.

13. Where moonlight ceases, sunlight reigns. There's always hope for the future for it draws us ever to our glorious past or deepens our perception to the depth-Presence.

14. Gandhiji was way ahead of his times. Gandhiji was not understood by man who settles things by unsettlement. Ages must pass before Gandhiji's significance will in its depth dawn on man. The cultured have seen his significance and honoured him. The lowly must evolve to understand. But in the fullness of time this Messiah of mercy must gain ground in the mind of man to usher peace and understanding. Whatever detractors may say, and they have plenty to say in the coarse context of the immediate, the Mahatma's effulgence will spread till it envelopes the world of warworn man.

15. Our paths intersect but our minds do not meet. And this is the predicament of man. At the billowy surface harmony can never be. It is the depth that harmonic lies. Dive deep, O man, to live. Dive deep.

16. The material man dissolves in the spiritual man but only when the dross of desire wears off.

17. Moments make the thread of eternity. And yet in a single moment is contained it all.

18. Unholy is the association of money with monasticism if even organised unto welfare work. Money invariably corrupts.

19. Is there a moderate who was once not an extremist and who will once more not an extremist become? Life is a moderation between extreme ends.

20. Swamiji wanted to free devotees, not enslave them to organisation. If devotees confuse Thakur to be his Mission, then they will have failed the Swami in terms of right perception of his famous statement that called the Sangha as the veritable body of Thakur. Remember, the body of Thakur and not the soul, and the affirmation has its validity and expiry in time as has also been amply enunciated by Swamiji.

21. It were better if truth were to pay a visit than the President to the once hallowed precincts of the monastery. And if money were to make a holy exit!

22. First, the light. Then delight.

23.

There was a star

That lit up the sky.

It waxed in the heavens

And wafted through space nearby.

Oh, the light streaming through,

The glow gleaming nigh.

Solitary stellar being,

Waltzing through the vault up on high.

24.

Whole day I write.

How many do you read?

Why should I give credence

To what you want me heed?

25. Ki Gurui paile? Fazil Guru!

29. If you really love your motherland, read Vivekananda. Mere passive piety will not do nor gathering crumbs of information about Swamiji from online posts. Study Swamiji in-depth. Read his speeches, his LECTURES FROM COLOMBO TO ALMORA and become inflamed with a like idealism and power that will impel you unto character-building and nation-building in consequence. This is the way to Self-realisation and this is the path of national progress.

53. I have at last a committed member of the VIVEKANANDA ACADEMY, a fourteen year old student of mine (Hridansh Surana), who is avidly reading the selected works of Swamiji.

54. People give recognition to great men at a great distance in time. While the greats live and reform society, they are reviled, opposed at every turn, persecuted and even killed, and it takes centuries for their message to take root in the hearts of men. This slowness of perception is an organic feature in human beings and is the cause of much greater suffering than would otherwise have been were the masters to be recognised for their worth in time. It is, thus, incumbent upon the followers of the masters to mould their lives upon them, live out their spiritual messages in real life and then preach the same, publish a like literature and disseminate the teachings of these seminal sages who periodically visit the planet to save humanity from sinking unto extinction.

71. Heaven and hell are low material ideals unworthy of being dubbed spiritual. Desire is diametrically opposed to divinity.

72. Ideology, when toxic, contaminates community.

73. Spiritual organisations ought to gather spiritual wealth and not material wealth. The founder's ideals must never be neglected.

74. Today is a day of mourning for us---PARTITION DAY. Pakistan was born by dismembering India.

75. Communists in India are always allied with anti-Hindu forces.

Monumental revolution of Lenin needs to be remembered by communists when they talk of Hindu architectural vandalism.

Communists preaching peace and harmony! Height of humour! Depth of deceit!

76. If ideology be violent, how can peacefulness be?

77. Did the Muslims not kill the Buddhist monks en masse, destroy the Buddhist universities of Nalanda and Vikramashila? Why blame the Hindus for reclaiming their spiritual culture? What had the invading Islamic hordes have to do with India? What sort of historical heresy is this? Deliberate amnesia?

80. Think. Reason. Accept your faith if it satisfies your reason and provides evidence for claims made. If not, reject it.

RAMAKRISHNA-VIVEKANANDA ... 1

RAMAKRISHNA-VIVEKANANDA ... 1

Since the passage of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda from the world there have arisen many a luminary in the spiritual firmament but none has shone so bright as these two effulgent stars. Their undimmed glow continues to light up our lives even as their message gets muddled with the passage of time and the toll it invariably takes through the lapse in conviction and application thereof of their pristine principles. But sages as yet unborn will yet arise to restore to health and wholeness their initial inspiration and quicken on earth a transformation of consciousness which many lesser souls have unsuccessfully attempted thus far. Unto such an appearance of seminal sages, such a reincarnation of the divine duo, such a regeneration of the Dharma we hold our hopes and prayers even as we lend our arms to rolling the Yugadharmachakra (the Wheel of Righteousness of the Age).
