CATCH HIM ON THE HIP

CATCH HIM ON THE HIP

In the comment stream some people come along just to 'catch you on the hip'. These hip-hunters are so much in contrast to the erstwhile hippies who, wild as they were in some ways, were so liberal and loving. These 'commentators' only point out the side-faults in a post, have no sympathy for the general intent of it, are narrow-hearted, slight-souled and caustic in comment, and some are even sarcastic and outrageously mocking. Worst of all, there are foolish respondents who, instead of giving them a due rebuttal, encourage them further by providing a 'like' sign to their comments. One more thing. In a land of expanding opportunities and rising fortunes these commentators will never 'like' the post if they comment, their energy getting expended in the posting of contrary observations alone. Picking faults with others, cherry-picking passages and 'rubbing it in' with superficial reading into a post has become the 'intelligent' man's malady. Would it were otherwise with more positive observations dominating social discourse, we, especially our provincial people, would be better off today. As Swamiji said, "In the West they follow the inner intent of an observation and deem it discourteous to comment on its surface linguistic trappings. But here you are busy fighting over the chaff, forgetting the grain within. This would be deemed highly offensive in the West." I rest my case here.
