THE DEMOGRAPHIC PROBLEM, ITS CAUSES, CONSEQUENCES AND SOLUTIONS ... 1

Our single focus wuthout deflection in any direction on any pretext ought to be the defence of the Hindus. Our civilisation is under imminent threat of destruction at the hands of Islam. Evangelical Christianity is making matters worse at that with its pernicious proselytism.

Hindu numbers are fast declining relative to growing Muslim population in India such that in several decades Hindus will be in all likelihood a minority in some provinces like West Bengal, Kerala and Assam. Then several Kashmirs will be there in India. Even a sizeable minority Muslim population will cause enormous problems for the existence of the Hindus which is already evident in places like Murshidabad, Malda and Sandeshkhali in West Bengal and in Mallapuram in Kerala. This demographic change from a Christian majority population to a Muslim majority one has destroyed Lebanon where Christians have had to flee the country post the demographic transition. A similar occurrence took place in 1990 in Kashmir where 500,000 Hindus were overnight driven out by fanatical Muslims with a murderous mob chanting 'raliv, galiv ya chaliv' ('convert, leave or die'). This tragic episode, the seventh exodus of Kashmiri Hindu Pandits from the Valley has been typically downplayed by the Muslims there and by politicians everywhere as a political issue triggered by Pakistan and as such not as much a religious one as right-wing Hindus make it out to be. But nothing can be further from the truth. The 1990 Kashmiri Pandit exodus was the latest mass manifestation in India of traditional Islamic intent in consonance with Islamic theology and history. This is what awaits other regions within India where Muslim population is rapidly on the rise and Hindu population falling.

মুর্শিদাবাদে কিন্তু মুসলমান সংখ্যাগুরু, সংখ্যালঘু নয় | ওখানে হিন্দু সংখ্যালঘু | বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে সংখ্যালঘু, সংখ্যাগুরু ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ধর্মাবলম্বী | গোটা দেশের সামগ্রিক চিত্র ধরে আঞ্চলিক পরিসংখ্যানগত আখ্যা দেওয়া ঠিক নয় | কাশ্মীরে হিন্দুরা ভয়ঙ্করভাবে সংখ্যালঘু হওয়া সত্ত্বেও কোন রকম সুযোগ সুবিধা পাননি | তার ফল আমরা দেখেছি, দেখছি | এটি সাংবিধানিক অবিচার বলে বোধ করি | এর সাংবিধানিক প্রতিকার প্রয়োজন |

If you have to preach the Vedanta, preach it dauntlessly like a man. Mere erudition is not enough but a boldness of expression,

fearlessness in visiting hell itself on earth with the gospel of the Advaita and forthrightness in articulation bereft of all sweet compromise. Give up all association with money and organisational trappings and like a formless power enliven the masses. It is not easy to become Vivekananda's protégé and few have been found thus far. 🕉

পুরুষ সিংহের ন্যায় বেদান্ত প্রচার কর্তব্য অনাত্মার [দেহমনের] মায়া ত্যাগ করে একেবারে শত্রুর দূর্গের মধ্যে প্রবেশ করে | মিষ্টি মিষ্টি ভাষায়, মেয়েলী ভাবভঙ্গি করে নিজেকে সুরক্ষিত রেখে এ কাজ নিরর্থক, নিষ্ফল | 

"তেলা মাথায় তেল দিয়ে কি হবে ?" বলেছিলেন আমাদের স্বামী রমানন্দ | যেখানে ঘোর অন্ধতা, সেখানে প্রচার করা কর্তব্য | অবশ্য মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র উপযুক্ত ক্ষেত্র কিন্তু স্বামীজী বলেছিলেন সারা বিশ্বে ছড়িয়ে পড়তে বেদান্তবাণী নিয়ে | তা হয়নি, হচ্ছে না, হওয়ার কোন উপক্রমও নেই | 

বেদান্ত প্রচারের দশা আজ স্বামীজীর আকাঙ্ক্ষিত পুরুষ ভাব ত্যাগ করে অতিকমনীয় মেয়েলী ভাব আশ্রয় করে হচ্ছে | তাও এমন জায়গায় যেখানে মানুষ 'dollar imperialism'এর দ্বারা চালিত, সারা বিশ্বকে নিঙড়ে নিয়ে নিজ জীবনের সুখসম্পদ রক্ষা ও বর্ধনে ব্যস্ত যাঁরা | পৃথিবী রসাতলে যাক, তাতে কি ? আমরা সমৃদ্ধিশালী দেশের বেদান্তবন্ধু | আমরা অরাজনৈতিক তো বটে, তাই বলে আমরা অন্যায় অবিচারের বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলব না ? এ তো এক প্রকার কাপুরুষতা, আপস, মহামায়ার অবিদ্যাশক্তির সাথে সমঝোতা |

পুরুষ সিংহ চাই, মেয়েলী বেদান্ত প্রচারক নয় | সিংহ শাবক তৈরি করতে হলে নিজে সিংহসম হতে হবে | "Let the lion of Vedanta roar." স্বামীজীর এই বজ্রবাণী কি effeminacyর সাথে ঘর করে ?

পুনশ্ত : "খোল-করতাল বাজিয়ে লম্ফঝম্প করে দেশটা উৎসন্নে গেল। একে তো এই dyspeptic (অজীর্ণ) রোগীর দল, তাতে আবার লাফালে ঝাঁপালে সইবে কেন? কামগন্ধহীন উচ্চ সাধনার অনুকরণ করতে গিয়ে দেশটা ঘোর তমসাচ্ছন্ন হয়ে পড়েছে। দেশে দেশে, গাঁয়ে গাঁয়ে যেখানে যাবি, দেখবি খোল-করতালই বাজছে! ঢাকঢোল দেশে তৈরি হয় না? তুরীভেরী কি ভারতে মেলে না ? ঐ-সব গুরুগম্ভীর আওয়াজ ছেলেদের শোনা। ছেলেবেলা থেকে মেয়েমানষি বাজনা শুনে শুনে, কীর্তন শুনে শুনে দেশটা যে মেয়েদের দেশ হয়ে গেল! এর চেয়ে আর কি অধঃপাতে যাবে ? কবিকল্পনাও এ ছবি আঁকতে হার মেনে যায়! ডমরু শিঙা বাজাতে হবে, ঢাকে ব্রহ্মরুদ্রতালের দুন্দুভিনাদ তুলতে হবে, 'মহাবীর, মহাবীর' ধ্বনিতে এবং 'হর হর ব্যোম্ ব্যোম্' শব্দে দিগ্দেশ কম্পিত করতে হবে। যে-সব music-এ (গীতবাদ্যে) মানুষের soft feelings (হৃদয়ের কোমল ভাবসমূহ) উদ্দীপিত করে, সে-সব কিছুদিনের জন্য এখন বন্ধ রাখতে হবে। খেয়াল-টপ্পা বন্ধ করে ধ্রুপদ গান শুনতে লোককে অভ্যাস করাতে হবে। বৈদিক ছন্দের মেঘমন্দ্রে দেশটার প্রাণসঞ্চার করতে হবে। সকল বিষয়ে বীরত্বের কঠোর মহাপ্রাণতা আনতে হবে। এইরূপ ideal follow (আদর্শ অনুসরণ) করলে তবে এখন জীবের কল্যাণ, দেশের কল্যাণ। তুই যদি একা এভাবে চরিত্র গঠন করতে পারিস, তা হলে তোর দেখাদেখি হাজার লোক ঐরূপ করতে শিখবে। কিন্তু দেখিস, ideal (আদর্শ) থেকে কখনও যেন এক পা-ও হটিসনি। কখনও সাহসহীন হবিনি। খেতে শুতে পরতে, গাইতে বাজাতে, ভোগে রোগে কেবলই সৎসাহসের পরিচয় দিবি। তবে তো মহাশক্তির কৃপা হবে।"

We need men, not effeminates to rouse the world to the virile message of the Vedanta. Remember, Swamiji hated effeminacy. So did the redoubtable revolutionary, Rash Behari Bose, an ardent follower of Swamiji, one who became Geeta incarnate in revolutionary action rather than being a pretentious, cowardly, passive preacher of the doctrine while failing to resist the adversary in real terms. Manhood, Swamiji invoked in his followers but, alas, to what effeminate effect in some of his celebrated followers who are making a mockery of his message! But others with stronger spine are there as well and legions will follow. 🕉 Hindu!

I shall neither pander to organisational vanity nor to individual fame with massive fan-following but shall articulate what I find pertinent in Swamiji's masculine message of the Soul. Vedanta must come alive in the veins like volcanic lava pouring out and metamorphosing men out of weaklings with pronounced effeminacy. Then shall Vedanta be served best when the enemy terrain is traversed and the adversary conquered not with sweet-sounding accomodating articulation but with thunderous expression of the bare brutal truth. Remember what Swamiji said, "Truth does not pay homage to any society, ancient or modern. Society has to pay homage to Truth or die." So, Truth is my ideal, not any society, religious or otherwise, however exalted. No individual, however lionised in society, is my ideal. As such, to awaken my brethren across the world, "I shall continue to sound the gong," as my hero Swami Vivekananda had put it to his brave disciple Nivedita. 🕉 Hindu!

সন্ন্যাসী প্রতিষ্ঠানের কর্তব্য সন্ন্যাসী প্রতিষ্ঠান ঠিক করবেন, তা তো ঠিকই | আমরা বলার কে ? তবে যদি অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে রুখে না দাঁড়ান, উপরোন্তু অন্যায়কারির ভিন্নভূমিকায় গুণকীর্তণ করেন, তবে এমন প্রতিষ্ঠানের ওপর হিন্দুরক্ষার বিশেষ আশা দেখি না, ভরসা পাই না | এর চেয়ে আত্মরক্ষায় তৎপর হওয়া ভাল, যে সকল প্রতিষ্ঠান জিহাদের বিরুদ্ধে সোচ্চার হন, ঘোর সংকটকালে হিন্দুর পাশে দাঁড়ান, তাঁদেরই প্রতি অধিক আস্থা রাখা বুদ্ধিমানের কাজ | অবশ্য, এখানে আন্তর্প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক আধ্যাত্মিক মানের কোন তুলনামূলক বিচার করা হচ্ছে না, মাত্র মানসিকতার | 🕉 হিন্দু !
