IN RESPONSE TO THE MISREPORTING IN A BRITISH NEWSPAPER OF THE REASON OF TAGORE'S ABDICATION OF THE KNIGHTHOOD POST THE JALLIANWALA BAGH MASSACRE

Misreporting and misguiding the people may be politically expedient but is a journalistic offence, both in the ethical sense as well as in the sense of professional propriety. Falsities and fabrications are part and parcel of the propaganda machinery in which the Press plays its part to suit the powers that be but such misrepresentation of facts makes a mockery of the very ideal of a free Press whose job is to report events as they happen and not as they are made out to be to suit the political dispensation of the day. Glory unto the news agency that adheres to this journalistic ethic and glory unto such reporters who bring to the fore human misery as they are for their right redress to take place.

Bande Mataram!

P.S. The reason cited in this news clip for Tagore's renouncing the Knighthood is British flogging of Hindu rioters and not British gunfire on an unarmed Baisakhi gathering in the Jallianwala Bagh. So much for the truth of British reporting on colonised India.

RESPONSE TO A NOT SO UNCOMMON REMARK THAT THE MARTYRS TO FREEDOM WOULD HAVE RECONSIDERED THEIR SACRIFICIAL OPTIONS FOR THE MOTHERLAND WERE THEY AWARE WHERE INDEPENDENT INDIA WOULD BE HEADING TO --- REF. BASANTA KUMAR BISWAS

Genuine patriots never think that way. They are karma yogis who do not expect return of any sort for their labour of love save that of the well-being of the motherland, and such a well-being is sure to come in the fullness of time. At any rate, the ideal that they have upheld before future generations is bound to bear fruit in kindred souls just as it had in them who had sacrificed their all for us.
Commoners like us seek immediate result of our actions and fail to see beyond the times to a brighter morrow, for we are shortsighted in our selfishness and, so, stunted in our aspirations. Basanta Biswas, Khudiram, Kartar Singh Sarabha and other young eagles of the freedom movement who were martyred in bloom have freshened the soil of our motherland with their blood and laid the foundations for a future polity to spring anew to build the edifice thereof. Thus shall Mother India arise from the dust of her decimation to the heights of her future glory. And Basanta Biswas will have inspired millions to bring about this transformation. Therein lies his glory in the future narrative and therein lies his glory in the past sacrifice which in the present we must honour and not make light of in any way.
Bande Mataram!

LIES WELL SPUN ... 1

How many lies spread about Netaji's life after his disappearance will you fight and counter? You will lose, for the forces at work are sinister, the betrayers widespread and the lies horrendous, yet, by constant propagation now seated deep in the consciousness of the commoner.

Fight on but, brothers, fight on sisters, and you will discover a personality you never dreamt of, one so pure, so holy, so chaste, pure as the Ganga flowing from the highest heavens, valorous as the bravest Rajputs ever were, dauntless in the face of death and defeat as the Samurais of Japan and intelligent as Krishna, who could manoeuvre his way through the most impossible of circumstances to arrive at his cherished goal of freedom for his motherland. You know who I mean, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Meditate on him on him to find out more about him and you will see how he has been betrayed at every bend and turn by whosoever he has trusted the most. His life is littered with the betrayals of so many that it is a wonder that he could still elude their grasp, evade their toxic touch and remain godlike in the hearts of his devotees despite horrendous homespun lies galore making the rounds about his life, death, marital status, progeny et al and polluting the minds of men with fictitious tales. And do you know why he still survives in their memory as the supreme hero of the freedom struggle, yet, sage-like in sagacity and perfected purity? Because 'satyameva jayate nanritam' (truth triumphs, never untruth). So, now you know that your hero, your leader, the architect of your national destiny was unblemished in his purity, untainted in character, his chastity unbroken through life.

Bande Mataram! Jai Hind!

THE BOY WHO BOMBED HARDINGE

Basanta Kumar Biswas, born 6 Feb, 1895, was a minor when he bombed Lord Hardinge on 23 Dec, 1912. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on 5 Oct, 1914 but the British Government filed a fresh appeal in the Lahore High Court, tampered with the accused's birth records held at Ambala Central Jail to make him major as on the date of the bombing and Basanta Biswas was hanged on 11 May, 1915. This much for British fair play, justice and civilisation. All humbug, and Swami Vivekananda had seen through it. He, like none other, had exposed them long before other national stalwarts woke up to it.

VIVEKANANDA, THE SAGE OF CLEAR VISION

Swami Vivekananda had seen through the fake culture of civility and fair play of the British long before the likes of Tagore saw through it. He had a clear conception of British intentions in India and had no illusions that they were here to modernise India and help usher it into the millenium. Swamiji had in America even once prophesied the doom of the British that is yet to fulfil at the hands of the Chinese. His ire was caused by his understanding of British atrocity and villainy over centuries across the vast mass of their conquered territories.

The very same tactics of recruiting individuals for promoting a cause in self-interest which the British did to us, the so-called patriots are doing today. It takes a bit of time and experience to see through their designs but they are exposed in one's understanding sooner than later and then one has to be on one's guard.

Patriotism is not a profession that one may pursue for furtherance of one's career interests. It is the commitment to the nation of obliteration of all self-interest and then the plunge into the mass of humanity to serve the motherland. There can be no strings of personal gain attached to it, and if such a thing should be, then it will be deemed a conflict of interest that will nullify one's claim to being a patriot.

Fanaticism is not patriotism. Neither is pretended liberalism love for the motherland. For love is strength and truth and not does pander the vanities of pretentious goodness as pseudo-liberals are. They lack in courage of conviction and are dilly-dalliers between one idea and another. Character-strength which is an essential feature of patriotism must not be confused with intellectual tall talk, remember.

Coming back to the initial point, let the mercenaries
