AN OPEN LETTER TO AN ARDENT, INTREPID FILM-MAKER

AN OPEN LETTER TO AN ARDENT, INTREPID FILM-MAKER

Dear Amlan Kusum Ghosh,

Thank you heartily for making a film on Netaji that I suppose highlights his probable whereabouts post disappearance and attempts to throw light on his life incognito. That the role of the hero is played by a seminal artiste of the stature of Victor Banerjee adds lustre to the cinematic presentation. Your endeavour, energy and enterprise in this project exhilarates me even in prior contemplation of the fruition of the film by way of mass audience acceptance.

Do not feel threatened by empty volleys hurled at you by parties with vested interests who in turn charge you likewise. These are mere dry leaves flying about in the cyclone which your prospective pictorial project has raised and they can do to a sturdy oak like you no harm. Hold fast onto your convictions and die game if need be but do not relent before empty threats. Even earlier when the film 'Gumnami' was released, such a scene we had witnessed when even in open forum the threat to take up the issue at the Home Ministerial level had been issued but to no eventual effect. This time for variety's sake it is legal proceedings that are being apparently resorted to to frighten you into submission. But you are Netaji's protégé and every sane person knows that such a one will not cower before such cowardly maneuvering by crafty practitioners of this ancient art of verbal assault. Hence, onward with the project. We eagerly wait to witness on celluloid what yet lies in the domain of confused conjecture in most minds. Hope to find conceptual clarification in this regard added to which I hereby send my own regards.

Yours in ardent love for the motherland, Sugata Bose.

Vande Mataram!

Jai Hind!
