Islam is neither a religion nor a dharm. It is a deen, a comprehensive civilisation of sorts which is exclusive, absolute and uncompromising in its proselytising zeal. It considers itself as the last and absolutely perfect way of life here leading to the hereafter. It has received its mandate directly from Allah (The God) which therefore is inviolable. The Qur'an enshrines the message of Allah delivered unto Islam's Prophet through Angel Gibreel (Archangel Gabriel). This is the holy book of Islam passages of which are to be recited five times a day. This ritualistic reading is called Salat (Namāz in Urdu).
