MAKE NO DISTINCTION BETWEEN MONK AND MAN

MAKE NO DISTINCTION BETWEEN MONK AND MAN

Make no distinction between monk and man. Revere both equally and do not accord preferential treatment to the monk. One is the rising sun and the other the sun hidden amidst the depths of slowly receding darkness. But both are the same sun with its equal effulgence. The difference lies in perception brought forth from your vantage point of vision or otherwise. The darkness you perceive in the householder is in your soul, not in his. The radiance you receive from the bright face of the monk is issuing from the depths of your soul as well. The monk and the man are the external conditions that spark off your inner distinctive responses consequent on your prior circumstantial conditioning to a great extent. Understand it. Give it up. Now discriminate within and not without. Destroy distinction within and see sameness without. It is all the bright face of God in merry disguise.

THE HINDU RENAISSANCE ... 3

THE HINDU RENAISSANCE ... 3

Counter-conversion is the only way out. The whole of the Indian subcontinent must be Hinduised, a tall order at inception but an inevitability in the long run owing to the sheer weight of truth on the side of Hinduism that must prevail against these arbitrary and absolutist Abrahamic faiths.

This counter-conversion must begin without further delay. Hindu proselytising must become an integral part of its propagation as opposed to its almost apologetic stance as being a universal philosophical system that believes unilaterally in the harmony of faiths and the futility of conversion to its fold despite continuous loss of numbers to Islam and Christianity which with impunity go on converting Hindus to their fold. Counter-conversion alone can check this nefarious one-way traffic. Otherwise, this problem of persecution of Hindus by fanatical Muslims on account of their effective regional numerical superiority will never cease.

So long as Muslims and Christians convert the Hindus with no reverse resistance, the Hindus will remain at the receiving end of things. The day the Hindus start aggressively proselytising, that very day the situation will start changing. Muslims and Christians will respond to their own medicine and modify manners. Hindu proselytising will not only gain us numbers and increase our cultural influence but will also give solidarity to the body politic of the Hindus and check conversion out of its fold.

Each and every Hindu requires training in some salient features of the Sanatan Dharma which will equip him/her with the right knowledge-base and in its wake the right defence against marauding attempts on his/her religion. It will clarify conception about the Sanatan Dharma and, so, strengthen the soul against the common mischief of proselytising priests and clerics of these two Abrahamic faiths.

BHUPENDRANATH DATTA -- A FORGOTTEN REVOLUTIONARY WHO THE YOUTH CAN YET SEEK INSPIRATION FROM IN A WORLD OF ROTTING IDEALS

BHUPENDRANATH DATTA -- A FORGOTTEN REVOLUTIONARY WHO THE YOUTH CAN YET SEEK INSPIRATION FROM IN A WORLD OF ROTTING IDEALS

Bhupendranath Datta -- a man of character in this world of terribly compromised ideals. Few have read the book written by him titled 'Swami Vivekananda -- Patriot-Prophet'. It is a masterpiece. It is, perhaps, the best description of the phenomenon that Swamiji was from the human perspective. Here Swamiji is portrayed not as the oft-quoted divine personage arising from his seat of meditation in the spiritual realm of the Saptarshi Mandal but as the then culmination of human historical development in India, a being arising from the sea of sunken humanity and responding to the challenges of the times.

Bhupendranath (1880-1961), youngest brother of Swamiji, revolutionary and Marxist scholar, one who had to bear the worst side of poverty after the death of his father Vishwanath Datta, met Lenin in 1921 in the Soviet Union who advised him to work among the peasants in India to create the ground for the impending social revolution.

Bhupendranath had read Swamiji's genius from the socioeconomic standpoint and had attempted to estimate his contributions to the social revolutionary regeneration of India, Swamiji being the first one to give the clarion call to awaken the masses by way of seeking redemption for the motherland from its historical shackles -- colonialism, imperialism et al.

Bhupendranath Datta, a forgotten character in India, revolutionary, thinker, scholar, anthropologist, biographer and a man of noble ideals lived through and through a celibate life, deserves much more of our attention today as we hunt in vain for lived ideals in men masquerading as messiahs who in real are, though, 'hollow men', to quote T.S.Eliot. These brave sons of the soil who had embraced multiple incarceration to free the motherland from British occupation live in the periphery of our affections on account of our stupendous ignorance of our nation's history and our general apathy for depth-study. We so often introduce him as Swamiji's youngest brother and his biographer but he was much more than that. His life of epic struggle against familial poverty post his father's death, a misfortune he translated into delving deep into the causes of poverty en masse and emerged as a champion of the masses therefrom, shines luminous in the annals of modern Indian history and must be recounted more, far more than the insipid tales of lesser renunciates as has become the wont of missionary story-tellers to recounting, so that the youth today are fired up by genuine patriotic fervour and sincere concern for the suffering masses of humanity that is the real India.

Bhupendranath Datta was of the considered opinion that Swamiji had not been understood in all his comprehensive capacity, in all his universal vastness, in his social revolutionary aspect and in his prophethood of the masses by the Ramakrishna Mission monks in general and even by his own brother disciples. Theirs, in his opinion, was a superficial, unilinear understanding of Swamiji as preeminently a spiritual personality with patriotic derivations. But they could scarce comprehend Swamiji in the complex historical evolutionary context in his rightful sociological glory. Here their scant knowledge of historical processes stumped them in their understanding of this seminal sadhu, a warrior monk, a people's man voicing the muted aspirations of the masses suppressed for ages. Vivekananda, reckoned Bhupendranath, stood at the junction of the material and the spiritual, between the this-worldly and the other-worldly aspects of man, and strove to reshape the destiny of man. Vivekananda's sociocultural contributions far outstripped the Mission's superficial understanding of the varied elements of his being in terms of the typical bourgeois-capitalist conception.

I am not an anthropologist nor am I a sociologist nor revolutionary with Marxist ideological leanings. I am simply a rustic thinker along limited lines but am an ardent follower of the elder brother of Bhupendranath for whom I have dedicated my life from early youth. As such I have read multiple biographies of Swamiji including those two seminal studies of Sister Nivedita and Romain Rolland but have to my delight discovered a treasure-trove of gems in Bhupendranath Datta's biographical study of his elder brother. The depth of familial detail, the profundity of analysis and the accurate historical contextualisation of Swamiji by this author has literally dazzled me. I owe my best understanding of Swamiji in historical terms to this classic commentary on the Patriot-Prophet's life and times. My warmest regards to all and earnest entreaty to all such who are well-versed in the English language and take a trifle more than active interest in Swamiji that they read this book to know in greater depth what a wonderful sage Vivekananda was, a being without bounds, yet, forever bound to feeling the miseries of man and seeking solutions to freeing them from the shackles of material life, wholly and comprehensively. My prostrations at the blessed feet of the jewel-wombed mother who bore Narendranath, Mohendranath and Bhupendranath, the trinity of gems she carried within her and presented them to us as perennial gifts of her love and inspiration. I bow down not only to these three seminal souls but to their divine mother, the ever-sacrificing, all-suffering, all-forgiving, silent giver, Bhuvaneshwari Devi.

WHITHER THE ORIGINAL IDEALS?

WHITHER THE ORIGINAL IDEALS?

Does architecture in concrete and marble make man? Whither the original ideals of the Master (Sri Ramakrishna) and his leonine protégé (Swami Vivekananda)?

Photo : The sidelined seventeenth direct monastic male disciple of the Avatar of Dakshineshwar. Tulsi Maharaj (Swami Nirmalananda) remains in the periphery of the Mission's affections. His name as the Master's (Sri Ramakrishna's) direct disciple has been erased from the Mission's publications. Not a word about him have I heard in all these thirty-nine years (1983 - 2022) in any lecture by a monk of the Ramakrishna Mission. The court case of the early 1930s between Tulsi Maharaj and the Ramakrishna Mission has been instrumental in causing this latter-day historical distortion of fact and sadly so, for, in the words of Swamiji, 'Everything in the world can be given up for truth but for nothing in the world can truth be given up.' And, yet, scriptures are quoted, the Holy Trinity invoked everywhere while this travesty of truth continues where Swami Nirmalananda finds no spiritual parent by way of adoption as due disciple by any in the Mission. It is said that he was the disciple of Swamiji and, yet, in the list of Swamiji's disciples his name is missing. Everybody of serious and studious intent knows him to be Thakur's direct disciple and, yet, his name is missing from the listed lot of the Master's apostles which are shown to number sixteen when in truth they number seventeen. How will the youth be inspired by untruth in the name of the most truthful of human beings (Sri Ramakrishna) who has ever appeared on this terrestrial stage? No wonder there is this rudderless flow of the Mission today with its architecture in concrete replacing the original man-making mission? Untruth maketh not man. The pursuit of wealth maketh not character. Ease of attitude devoid of terrible pain at the agony of man all around in exploitative chains cannot be called anymore the Mission of the Master. Ha Ramakrishna! হা রামকৃষ্ণ !

HAS BANGLADESH FORGOTTEN ITS LIBERATION-DEBT TO INDIA ? HAS IT TURNED UNGRATEFUL TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT IT CONSIDERS THE PROTECTION OF HINDUS NOT A PRIORITY-JOB ANYMORE ?

HAS BANGLADESH FORGOTTEN ITS LIBERATION-DEBT TO INDIA ? HAS IT TURNED UNGRATEFUL TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT IT CONSIDERS THE PROTECTION OF HINDUS NOT A PRIORITY-JOB ANYMORE ?

Does Bangladesh not feel an iota of gratitude or the slightest of shame in persecuting the Hindus and the Buddhists there when it owes its liberation from Pakistan to the massive military support of India? Has Bangladesh resorted to Islamic ways completely about destroying the least vestige of any other religious denomination within its territorial fold? Then may Bangladesh be reminded that it was carved out of undivided India by fanatical Muslims among which was their founding-father as well, he along with his political bosses leading the movement of perfidious Partition, the mutilation of the motherland, her arms severed at either end of her mangled body.

The entire subcontinent was once India, Bangladesh being its far-eastern frontier, and as such Bangladesh should remember that despite geographical division it stands on hallowed original Aryavarta where the Sanatan Dharma has been for millenia the professed and practised religion. Thus, to impose Islam on the Hindus and the Buddhists or, in the case of their refusal to convert, to persecute them to a point where they are forced to leave hearth and home and flee the land is a gross violation of original principles.

The Law of Karma will recoil with devastating compounded effect and the fanatical Muslims dominating Bangladesh must bear this in mind. That Islam does not believe in the Law of Karma will not absolve them of this sin, the most horrendous crime against humanity, for truth despite Islam's doctrines will prevail by the force of natural law. Nothing supernatural about it. So, Islamists in Bangladesh must dread the historic consequences of their continuous criminal actions against innocent Hindus and Buddhists. And, mind you, even the secular bloggers and freethinkers are being periodically persecuted by these intolerant Islamists. Upon these perverse practitioners of medieval monstrosity the historic vengeance of these progressive people will be visited as well. So, beware, Islamists in Bangladesh! And beware the Islamists of Bangladesh!
