MAHATMA GANDHI AT 150 [ 2 OCTOBER, 1869 -- 2 OCTOBER, 2019 ]

MAHATMA GANDHI AT 150
[ 2 OCTOBER, 1869 -- 2 OCTOBER, 2019 ]

Mahatma Gandhi was arguably the sublimest political figure of the 20th century. His preeminence has been admitted by all the great men and women of the world. Some of these great thinkers and activists who looked upon Gandhi as, perhaps, the greatest political figure of the age were Albert Einstein, Romain Rolland, Rabindranath Tagore,Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and Jawaharlal Nehru. The list can be stretched endlessly but suffice it to mention the names of these 'choice and master spirits of the Age'. The rest is for people to study, ruminate and draw their own inferences. I, for one, merely offer here my own humble prostrations at the feet of the great one who led humanity to a greater freedom than has as yet been duly understood by many of his own countrymen who malign him needlessly out of their own ignorance of his greatness.

This is the sesquicentennial year of the Mahatma's advent on earth. Let us study his life and works and enrich ourselves so that we may feel inspired to serve our country and greater humanity with our whole heart and soul. In this shall lie our offering the best homage to his hallowed memory.
