WHEN WILL A LEADER ARISE WHO VERILY WILL BE THE DELIVERER?

When will a leader stand up out of the pack of perfidious politicians, nay, even subservient saboteurs of the people's good, who will consider it his holy vocation to bring succour to the suffering millions daily sinking in the mire of material existence? When will we remember with reverence enough the martyrs of our freedom movement that we can no longer remain passive spectators to the slow but sure downfall of our beloved motherland and become active in her regeneration from her present state of despicable decadence? The leader must lead but where are the followers amongst us who will support the leader to achieve the national objectives as well? It works both ways. The leader arises from the masses and shapes the destiny of the masses.

The spread of education through the rank and file of the nation, quality education and not mere literacy drives, will change the contour of the nation in no time. What is needed is the sagacity and the political will to implement these programmes for the good of the nation, for its future welfare. It is a tangle now and needs ordering and arrangement till the system starts working well. Till then citizens must come forward with their helping hand, philanthropic organisations must show their benevolence and the corporate world must look beyond merely contributing through their 'Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme' which is mandatory on them and is, therefore, not the true test of their charity.

We are a nation, united by the Constitution and owing allegiance to it. We are a people inhabiting this landmass called Bharatvarsha for aeons from prehistoric times. So many times we have risen as a people and so many times we have fallen. But the march of our civilisation has been unhindered in the long run, although, we have had temporary setbacks in the past when we seemed to have lost our cultural moorings. But we recovered to rediscover our roots again and deluge the world with our philosophical ideas, our sciences and, above all, our wonderful spirituality which is so very universal in scope and inclusive of all.

Now that we are a free nation, let us realise this freedom in its true essence such that every citizen of the country feels the sunshine of such freedom. Of what avail is political independence from alien forces when there are class iniquities in free India of a most vicious kind, when there is the curse of casteism dividing us into the oppressor and the oppressed, when birth is at a discount and life thereafter at a terrible premium such that death is often the only way to parity of conflicting conditions?

These are thoughts that trouble one who is alive to the problems that beset the nation and the leader who rightly represents the human cause must seek to address them efficiently and fast lest the delay in delivery destroys the last vestiges of hope for an evolutionary adjustment of forces and precipitates the nation into violent revolutionary redressal. As millions mutely suffer the monstrosity of capitalism carving out its carrion meal, it is time to set in a more humane system to look to human welfare and deliver genuine human good. Our future depends on our effort and in this let the leader and the led work in unison to bring about the desired end. Jai Hind!
