AS THEY LEAVE ONE BY ONE TO SHINE WITH A PERENNIAL LUSTRE

AS THEY LEAVE ONE BY ONE TO SHINE WITH A PERENNIAL LUSTRE

Another light of my life goes off. Asha Bhosle will never be again. She along with her elder sister had filled up my adolescent days with a sublimity that is today lost as a civilisation of the past and lives on in tearful memory as a relic that perchance will revive in a fresher spring yet unborn but brewing in the womb of futurity. The breathtaking beauty of her voice, the delicate modulations like a dainty brook dancing over a pebbled bed, here quickening steps, there slowing down, her amazing versatility and that supernal musical sense with ear, voice and soul attuned as if in divine harmony make her nonpareil in the world of Indian film music. A never to be forgotten artiste of rare attainments, voice vivacious and voice velvety where it needed to be, and voice sublime, uplifting, divine where she shone in her truest self. Orphaned yet again today.
